Remember, the police are not there to protect you. They are there to take a report and find the criminal after something happens. This is not to disrespect the police, I have the utmost respect for them and how they will put their life on the line for us. However, they cannot be everywhere for everyone in a protection mode. Most will even admit this. So your protection is YOUR responsibility.

I don't know what state you are in, but first things first is to go out and buy some Sabre Mace for everyone in the house and some door jammers. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Mace-Big-J...i_sku=10756576 Second, if local laws permit buy a pump shotgun and have someone teach you and her how to use it. Make sure you fire it and learn how to recognize it is loaded and how to unload it safely. Learn the 4 ruled of gun ownership. These will protect you in the short tern.

Finally, work with your landlord and try to move. If you cannot, have the landlord install a monitored security system.

i would move as u will never really feel at home or safe as you will always be wondering and the stress over this will not be a good thing, as for getting out of your contract over this your prob not going to be able to get out of it so youll end up paying .

What about getting an alarm installed. No one has mentioned this! It might make u feel more safe and set your mind at ease and while you are away.
