You need to snap some pics along the way John! I hope the problems are just with the tune. Would hate to see you have to tear a motor down. Does GMPP make an ECM for this fuel injection set up? If so, Matt's software might work better with it. I dunno.

Oh I am taking pictures...my laptop went Kaput.........

GMPP doesn't use this type of TPI system so that is a no go........Matt can fix it but it will just take time. He keep checking the vacuum, timing and fuel/air rations everytime he changes something to make sure it is within range so he doesn't grenade the motor.

Most tuners of LS, Honda etc...have a base line safe tune that they adjust based on each individual motor....Matt doesn't have any TPI tunes and especially for this motor. He is a moderator on alot of tuner forums and he has been asking if anyone has used this set up to no avail. That is why we called Street and Performance but their tunes are just base tunes that still have to be adjusted...

Street and Performance said they will adjust the tune....problem is they want the chip back each time so either I pay overnight charges and the wait time or just let Matt do it...I'll save the shipping back and forth.

It was quite funny..he has the idle smooth as glass and I had this funny look on my face...I guess I had a " I don't like this " look because it had zero lope...He just started laughing at me. He changed some parameters and took the lope out of it just to see what I would say....he knows how I like the lopey sound.....He thought that was funny.......Of course he changed it back to where it should be. He explained that he did that to show me how changes effect the way the motor ran.

The good thing about it is that he can tune, change things or whtaever you do and make it run optimally but it just takes a little time....

Matt took one of the injectors with him to check and make sure they were the right size...after his research he found out that they ae 24 lb injectors.......I need 42 lb injectors...he is calling Street and Performance to see why they sent the wrong injectors........I sure hope I don't have to buy new injectors.

Oh you are so correct and in my possession.

It is just frustrating to have spent all that money for something that was supposed to be done and it wasn't.

Plus the fact thatI am having to depend on someone else to help me because of my lack of experience. Don't get me wrong Matt is great and I would be totally screwed without him just wished I knew more on this type of thing.

You know, the way this shop ran you probably did get the right ones. But they didn't put those in your motor! That sucks.

Didn't really do a whole bunch tonight while Matt was working on the tune. We are trying to find out some more information on the injectors....just want to make sure I have to upgrade the injectors before I go and fork out MORE money.

The funny thing about this is when I started years ago on this project I thought 400 Horsepower was a good number and when I found this ZZ 383 GM crate motor with 425 I knew I had found a killer motor....little did I know at the time that 400 is mild. Especially after owning my Camaro.

If I had it to do over again a LS motor woul be going into this thing....alot more tuners out there for LS motors, not so for TPI/MPI but I have what I have now.

Talked with Matt this afternoon and it looks like it is going to be a few days before we can get it running. He had to order some tuning "Stuff" from a place called Moates.net. He has the software etc to tune it but does not have the stuff to datalog it and he said we needed it.

So I ordered some extra stuff for him that would make it alot easier on him. Once we get everything he will have the ability to hook his laptop up to the truck and actually check the ranges and tune it while driving.

the bad news is that the 24 lb injectors will work fine for normal driving, really putting around but if you placed the engine under a strain ( over 4000 rpms) that it would start to starve the motor for fuel...If I have learned one thing on this sight it's that a lean motor with blow up quickly.

So now I have to look for some new injectors for my new system...aint that grand. At least we will take a break on this for a few days while waiting for the stuff.........It should be here Wednesday or so....just puts off getting the tranny fixed.

I actually thought about entering it in the World of Wheels just like it sits with a great big ole sign that said " WORK DONE BY *******" I am sure that would get their dander up...but I'm gonna wait for the lawyers to do their thing.

My GOAL is to have it running and driving fine by March 1, everything mounted fabricated and ready for paint. Actually I think Matt can have it running right in a few days once we get the correct computer stuff and then I will haev a few days to get the bumpers adjusted, radio surround made etc....
