Actually yours doesn't look bad but some other posts show inadequate calorie amounts and not at all balanced meals.

I've kind of just been reading the posts here, and truly what works for someone may not work for someone else. I am a dietitian by education and trade, but I work with young children and pregnant women, so I don't work on weight loss on a daily basis. What I do know is that if you are truly overweight, you need to consider getting some medical advice before you embark on a plan to lose weight. Please lose weight sensibly and not too quickly, because that may set you up for possible failure or other problems. One to two pounds a week is sensible. Making small changes gradually for those who haven't done this before will make the task much more manageable. Shoot for small, short term goals first, and then your goal is much more attainable.

Try this website if you need some guidance or you are unsure. I have seen some really good advice on this thread, but may not be realistic for some of us.

Good luck to all!

I just glanced at the link you provided and all I can say is
Wow, I am in shock, it seems that the government and I have similar views on something, who would have ever guessed that.

Maybe because it's non-partisan... actually, obesity is something the government is really serious about, which is refreshing. What's even better is that physical activity is a big part of it! Whooo hoooo

There are tons of calorie calculators and only diet journals. So you know how much you should be eating to meet your goals and keep track of if you are eating too much or little. It sounds extreme but to an extent i measure out my food. It helps me learn serving sizes and minimize over eating. It gives you a pretty accurate idea of how many calories your eating. Maybe I'm just crazy.

It's not crazy, when I started working out and eating healthy I kept track of everything I ate. I measured and weighed everything I ate, I kept and do keep workout journals. I don't measure my foods any more because I always eat the same combinations of foods. I prepare most of my meals in advance and freeze them so I don't even think about it. Grab a container and nuke it perfectly balanced meals in an instant.

I also know that when you jump on the scale it will show weight loss but in reality you should follow a good diet and exercise plan to reach your goals. The results won't be as fast at the beginning but believe me it is thr right and healthy way to do it. Honestly if you are loosing more than 1 or 2 pounds a week it is not fat you are loosing. A few posts up I mentioned ratios of carbs proteins and fat. Everyones body is different but in general these ratios are proven to work. Weight loss and muscle building is not guess work it is science. I guess the problem is and I say this because it was true for me at first most do not know what really are the right foods, amounts of food and ratios to eat. I have somewhere a few charts and examples that may help, I will dig them up and post them to help get everyone on the right track. I am not a professional trainer or nutritionist but there are those among us who are and I think if the chime in you will see this info is accurate. I hope I can be of help because this is an area I have done a lot of research in.
Whew!! I thought I was doing something wrong because it has taken me 2 weeks to loose 3 pounds!! I keep telling myself that is just fine....muscle weighs more than fat and I will be more likely to keep it off because I am doing it the right way!!

I been eating food like this whole time. Not all my food, but I always eat what looks good. My metabolism sped up, but I been eating as much as I usual do so now I am losing weight eating normally.
I remember those days!

My daughter and I went to the Gym tonight and she followed me and did my circuit workout with me, I think she's stronger than she realizes, she kept using really light weight but thats ok, I kept telling her that she's doing great and she has to start somewhere. She would start lifting the weight and would say oh this is so easy then by the 6th or 7th rep she was like ok I'm finished because it was getting harder then I'd say "HEY DON'T STOP THERE! GIVE ME 3 MORE"!!!!!! LOL I went all sargeant on her, it was fun!!!!! And she's gonna be sore tomorrow! hehe
