and that's why you see people dropping V-8's in them. and that's why they have such a cult following. . .yea you sir stated a personal opinion as a fact.

the V-6 GT's were safe cars it was the 2m4's from 83 and 84 that had the engine fire issue. but by the time GM had fixed that peoples opinions had dwindled the sales for the car down next to nothing. along with the release of the MR2 killed the car. ALSO crash test ratings on the fiero were out standing. so they weren't the death traps people have made them out to be.

I agree a fiero would be great to bring back. small mid engine car with a 260 hp turbo 4 would be great. that engine puts out 120 more horses then the original GT put down. and the original GT could keep up with Trans AM's and Camaros of the same era. if that says anything.

Thumbs up

my dad had one which was a 88 the last and BEST year of the car. he had the FORMULA model basically the base car with the top end model car's aero front end and the 2.8 V6, interior, and better (LOTUS designed for 88 year only) suspension. it was a blast of a car, the only thing he did not like was it was an AUTOMATIC but he could not find a 88 coupe, formula, or a GT with one. it is a little known fact that ANY transverse GM Front Wheel Drive drivetrain will drop in the back of the car being it used the early 80s 'X' platform which was the basis of GM's early front drive cars of the era. I have seen Fieros with the following drivetrains.

300hp 'northstar' V8 from a Eldorado coupe with nitrous (car had over 400hp when system was armed )
2.4 'quad 4' hooked to a 5 speed from a Grand Am or its Olds 'counterpart'
2.4 'ecotech' inline four from a cobalt
3.8 (3800) supercharged from a buick park avenue ultra
3.4 Twin Dual Cam V6 from a cutlass supreme or lumina z34

of those the supercharged 6 from the buick or the nitroed northstar are my favorites. my dad said he thinks the current small pushrod V6 that is in many impalas and montes (like mine) would be a great motor for them you get 160 to 180hp depending on the size. I personally think the 3.6 DOHC V6 in the new malibu or the Direct Injected version that will be in the upcoming Traverse SUV (with 300hp mind you) would be the best motor to put in the back of the car.

I took my drivers license test in my Datsun 280ZX, the guy who was conducting my test stood 6'8", he wasn't the most comfortable passenger in the history of motor vehicles. He had to lean and his head was practically on my shoulder for the whole test. Not the best of experiences for either of us I am sure.

Before I read a single post after the first post of this thread, I feel I need to say....

Pontiac Solstice. It's already been done. Just a different body style and name. Everything else is the same...two seater, sporty, gas saving, etc....it fits your criteria well.

wonder if a Fiero enthusiast would agree with that, hehe
I was thinking more in the lines of - for enthusiasts

I know, I know Not trying to be rude and I'm sorry if I came off that way. I just have to look at the entrire picture. It's the same as building the Camaro and then having the Trans Am, the Tahoe/Yukon, and so on. It is a comparable vehicle. GM, IMO, would only be doing itself harm by bringing it back....spend all the money on R&D when they could simply sell a variant of the model.

Hey, don't get me wrong. If I had it my way and they would all sell, I'd bring back the Fiero, the Chevelle, GSX, redesigned Impala, GTO, etc. They'd all be back and on the showroom floors. But, I was looking at it in a more logical sense.

The Pontiac Solstice and Saturn Sky fit that niche perfectly...sporty two seater that's compact. You'd have to get rid of one of the Solstice before building the Fiero. And, I just read the above. Looks like someone beat me to it

no actually you didn't at all, and I was hoping i wasn't coming off rude by what I said either -"wonder if a Fiero enthusiast would agree with that"

lol, i just didn't know how to reply to it in a more senseable response, and still have hold of the point i intended it to have, lol...
if that makes any sense?..
ive had a flu for a week and im getting over it, and i should be in bed, so i cant really think of real, smooth ways, of saying things. lol.

The Impala's need for a redesign is debatable, personally I like it as it is......

but the Malibu? This Malibu?!

Like Dragon said, "The Malibu???"

Personally, I LOVE the new design of the Malibu. Just look above. Looks a heck of a lot better than the previous model.

yeah lol, theres just something about it thats too...every other car on the road, i guess for what its purposes are thats fine, and the way its been selling; which is exactly why i dont care much for the design, i prefer cars that are individual or have that certain something that make it stand out in the crowd
know what i mean?
for example, the fiero, Lol. i saw that thing and i was like wtfx is that?!
just as you can easily spot a vette, a mustang, out of a mass amount of cars
I mean im not directly disrespecting the malibu harshly, but it just doesn't float my boat. but thats just my opinion; which is like a butt hole - everyone has one.
