I know that when I would use something similar on my old 360 I needed to have the bridge established in order for the connection to pass through. But that was on Vista and I have not really used 7 so I am not sure if they have changed anything. I am using either 8 or 8.1 for most of my windows needs.

Well... it didn't work. Apparently you can't bridge connections if one of the connections is sharing already. Either way, I think I may have figured out the problem. Apparently, the university blocks all ports to be used for online game play and you have to call and request to have it open. Didn't know that at all (and still don't understand why they do that) but hopefully that solves it.. *fingers crossed*

The network here isn't the best (that's an understatement) but I feel it'd just be easier to just monitor in instead of doing this like this. For the wireless, you really just input your credentials and do what you want honestly.

If you are connecting your PS3 to your laptop using a wired connection you will need a crossover Ethernet cable to connect the PS3 to the laptop, otherwise it cannot communicate with the laptop and then go out to the Internet. See diagram below:
Internet -------- Laptop ======= PS3 ------ standard Ethernet cable ===== crossover Ethernet cable |
