Here is what SRT is working on... '15 SRT Challenger.
Yep, it'll be a lighter weighted Challenger to compete with the Z/28. Where will they take the weight from i wonder? That thing is a ****ing BOAT!

I believe the allpar links about the cuda to be accurate. what they do with the challenger is a waste of effort in my book...that is a real pig.
You're welcome. Yea, I left out "at the moment" - the barracuda is dead in the water at the moment.

I wouldn't go as far and say the Challenger is a waste. The ZL1 and the Challenger SRT8 is about the same weight, +/- 40lbs. And think SRT is still using a cast iron block for the 6.4 and reports show that the Hellcat will be aluminum. And also the new LA platform that will show on the '15 Challenger will be even lighter by 150-200lbs. So there is a lot of room in weight savings.

Good question. I just hope Dodge's answer to the Z/28 isn't throwing more power at it, huge sway bar, lower it and call it a day.

Interesting, didn't realize their would be any weightloss. I thought t was to update the interior inline with the rest of the lineup, to add all the current features and allow the 8 speed auto to be used.

The main reason for the platform change from the LC to the new LA is the 8-speed auto. The current (LC) platform layout would not fit the new 8-speed. The reason it is in the Charger, 300, and Jeep GC is because they had a major refresh in '11 which included a modification of the floor pan to accommodate the 8-speed.

In '15 they have modified the platform to accommodate the 8-speed and will now be called the LA platform. They are also modifying a lot of old Mercedes suspension and rigidity components with updated Maserati/Alfa components while using some of the same material which will yield some weight lost and improve structural rigidity to the likes of the Alfa Romeo cars and Maserati Cars.

This should be fun. I'd love to have another IROC or TRANS AM series again. I missed the first round. =(

CAN AM series would be interesting as well. Or would they start a CAN AM MEX series now that Mexico builds some of the US markets cars?

Can Am wasn't for production cars, although it would be interesting. I used to love going to Riverside International Raceway and see the Can Am races there. Got to see the McLarens, Chaparrals, etc. running out there with the big name drivers.

A renewed TransAm series is VERY possible with Chevy, Dodge and Ford going head to head like they did back in the day. I would LOVE to see that kind of racing again. I think that would be more popular than Nascar because people could buy and drive the street versions of the cars they see competing on the track. And the cars and tires we have today blow away anything that was available in the 1960's.

I knew it wasn't production but typically when you got TransAM you got the CAN AM the next weekend around here. Would be nice to have them both back.

I agree 100%.

What was cool about Can Am (if I remember correctly) you could do almost anything to the car, as there were very few rules regarding the actual vehicles. Some had a 1,000+ HP back then.

That Mustang looks small. Maybe a retro Mustang II design?
