I always use it when I am not in the city driving. It is much more fuel efficient and keeps me from creeping up my speed, which is very easy to do.

I used to use it (cruise control) a lot in other cars. When I first got my Camaro I had the speed warning set to keep me out of trouble but after I got used to driving the Camaro without accidentally going faster than I meant to, it started getting on my nerves & I turned it off. I don't like to use cruise control in the Camaro I want to drive it!

The bigger question here is:
Has anyone used cruise control for an extensive period of time at speeds over 3 digits.

I'm an addict. I use cruise all the time.

Now adaptive cruise on the newer cars with the super safety nannies? Don't like that at all. If you are on the highway and a car cuts in front of you the cruise will automatically slow you car down to the pre set car to car distance. The new cars will actually apply the brakes to help in a crash. but it is annoying when someone pulls in front of you and your car slows down. Now some other person can control your speed.

Can you override it with the gas pedal? The worst part of mine is that it 'hangs' on a car making a turn in front of me, it continues to read it even after it's out of the way and slams on my brakes.... makes me look like an idiot

I don't believe cruise control will work above 95mph. Don't quote me, but I seem to recall that there was an upper limit.

If you step on the brake pedal it will turn off as well. If you have a manual it will also turn off it you press the clutch. If you press the gas pedal, you can speed the vehicle up and then when you release it, the car will return to the speed it was originally set at. Nice for passing.

That being said, never take the car out of gear without turning it off in an auto or manual. If you force it out of gear while driving with the cruise control engaged, the engine RPMs will spike, because the cruise control will still be trying to maintain the speed even though the car is in nuetral.
