So I called on Sunday because she was very tired on Saturday, and let her know I would come up to visit her Monday.

So, I drove up there after work yesterday to visit, and she was not remembering a lot of things, including her two sisters visiting a week earlier while she had been in the hospital. And, she is now back in the hospital today and really has no memory of anything more than 30 minutes ago.

I know many others have dealt with situations like this, but for me it's a first...and I'm having a difficult time with it. I hope she will get some of her cognitive powers back, but there's no way to know...and I worry that I've really had my last real conversation with her.
I four days my dad will be gone four years, he was 94. My mom passed away almost three years ago . It was tough when they started to have problems. My mom did have some drugs that did not quite work well together. A pharmacist at a place where I do work, printed out a bunch info on the drugs she was taking.
Good luck.

Steve, my thoughts and prayers for your mother. I know that some things are not as good as you would want them to be, but just remember that every moment counts, and it's the great moments we share with those we love that matter most. Stay strong, my friend.

Stay strong, brother. The cycle of life is puzzling, but we all have to face it first with loved ones, then eventually ourselves. Been there, seen it myself.

I'm sure sorry to hear this. Hopefully time will help her recover. The mind does funny things and I've seen my grandfather pop out of something very siminar to this. It sounds like she's got great family supporting her. Hang in there.

Very sorry to hear this. I lost my mother a couple years ago after a few months battle with cancer and have since then been dealing with my father who has Alzheimer's disease and is gradually declining. Nothing will make it easy but talking about what you are going through & your feelings is the best thing you can do. Don't forget to take care of yourself & encourage other family members to do the same. Cherish the memories you carry. We are here for you any time you need to talk or vent. You and your family will be in our thoughts & prayers.

So sorry to hear what you're dealing with about your father. :( My mom had Alzheimer's. What a horrible, horrible disease.

Steve Dallas...Hopefully your mom is having just temporary dementia caused by her meds. Will hope and pray that is the issue.

Like many have said before, be strong, our prayers are with you and your mom. My wife lost her mom last December from pancreatic cancer and it was very tough on her. All I can say is spend as much time with her as you can and don't be affraid to just sit by her side ,hold her hand and just talk to her.Even if she doesn't appear to be awake she can still hear your voice and knows you are there.

Sorry to hear this. I know what you're going through. My Grandmother raised me and I have a lot of fond memory's of her and all the conversations that we used to have. She now has Alzheimer's and doesn't really recognize me anymore and dealing with this hurts me to the core. I just deal with it all day by day as it comes. I guess the way I deal with it is I don't see her as often as I used to because in MY mind, I don't want my last memory's of her to be this. I'm not suggesting u do the same...it's just how I deal with it. I hope things get better for her AND you. God Bless.
