And I have to say I LOVE they're idea for the new Impala. ![]() The 300/Charger are 2 of my favorite cars, but I'd take an Impala if it looked like the one above. |

That as an impala? I must respectfully say I don't like the looks. When I saw it, it reminded me of a 300 and a Charger.

That Impala is nice looking (would probably look good in a Squad Car setup as well). It seems to resemble the Ford Interceptor (from the last year or two of auto shows) a little though....not that that's all bad, just an observation.

I personally would like to see the Chevelle come back, but I don't really think it has a place in Chevy's current lineup. I mean, they just discontinued the Monte Carlo. Is there really a need for another 2 door coupe? I suppose if they moved the Impala over to four doors it would work, but then there isn't much to differentiate it from the Malibu.
Not only that, but I think they should focus all their efforts on bringing the Camaro back for now. :-) Although it is very neat to see. |

Justin just brought up an interesting point...one that I knew had happened, but I didn't really think about it until now.
The Monte Carlo's gone...is the Camaro a "replacement"? I mean, not a 'replacement' in the literal sense of the word, but that 'spot' in Chevy's slightly bloated lineup. Do you think by cancelling the Monte Carlo, GM is making room for the Camaro? |

That's kinda what I assumed, but I mean the Monte Carlo of the past few years hasn't really done it for me. I mean, without even offering a manual you can't call it a sports car at all. It, and the Impala are 2 door Malibus IMHO.

Justin, the Impala, at least the current one, is a 4-door. The Monte was a two-door Impala, basically. |

as someone who loved the Chevelle before I loved the Camaro, I must say that I like the looks of the Chevelle... and would be able to justify it in my lineup more than I could another Camaro... I would presume that this car would be like a 2dr version of the next Impala... and I think there is room in the lineup for that car, because I would tend to believe that it would have a full size backseat instead of being a 2+2 package like the Camaro has always been.
think of it this way: BMW has the 2 door 6 series, the 2dr 3series and they sell the Mini as an entry level car... and they sell the crap out of all three of those models... how different would having a Cobalt SS, Camaro SS and Chevelle SS be from that same lineup?

The Chevelle doesn't have much of a place in the line up. If the Impala goes to rear drive, then there is no place for the chevelle. GM is going to get pretty saturated in performance cars in a few years, particularly 3500-4000 lb V8's.

Well, depending on how the Chevelle looked for actual production, the type of power it put down, etc, I would pick one up. I'm lookin for the more traditional 2dr coupe....you know...has back seats but no one will probably ever sit there....but if they do, they'd have enough leg room to be somewhat cumfy for an hour ride.
I, too, love the Chevelle...always had. That's the only other large scale diecast I display on my desk alongside my Camaro diecast. Actually, it's the one from Dazed and Confused...black w/ wht racing stripes. I'd love to see what GM could do for a concept. I'd consider it. |
