5,000 or so units sold a year that get 23mpg wont impact the company as a whole and these car's and performance level arnt going nowhere.

If I don't love the way it looks, I don't buy it. If you love the way the mustang loos, 70hp wouldn't matter. When the hell is Ford going to hand out this beast for some reviews anyway?

Nothing at all wrong with the base pricing on the 13 500, actually one thing is, I still can't afford it! About 6-months ago I received pricing on a base 12 500 for $45,000, so the price has inched up unless the dealer I spoke with was offering substancial discounts.
All in all I think most 500 owners will want a little more than the base package, probably opt for the SVT option. Still I think the ZL1 is the better value. The question is where will the leftover 12 500 prices fall to, might be interesting.

It's good to have choices, some people don't want nav, or a track pack or a glass roof etc...Of course the track pack would make it perform better on a road course but at the strip, it won't the car any faster. |

So does everyone think it's safe to say the z will out perform the base gt500 in regards to tracking, but if you optioned the 500 out, then the 500 has the advantage but you have to pay for it? Sort of seems that way. Your talking a 10k swing

It's pretty clear to me that if people want a track car they should buy the ZL1 and if people want a car for the strip they should consider the GT500

Let's just actually get one to a customer. Both fail to exist in my eyes until a production version is delivered. |

I won't lie, I'd love to drive a ZL1. Anyone who says otherwise is "probably" full of it. I just wouldn't buy one as I've always been a HUGE Mustang fan. And likewise, I'm sure plenty of Camaro guys would enjoy the GT500, but they aren't Mustang guys.
I for one don't care which one wins on a road course, but that's not to take away from how well the winner will handle. |

Guys, the price is pretty much a wash. However, you can get recaros on the stang for the price of the gas guzzler tax on the camaro. They're both great cars and I would be happy to drive either. To me the biggest difference is that the camaro offers an automatic which will attract alot more "casual" buyers. That was a brilliant move. Lets not kid ourselves either. The only track most of these cars will ever see is a quarter mile or the open road between traffic lights. In that regard, it makes alot of sense to make the upgraded suspension, etc an option. Horsepower bragging rights and quarter mile times in this class is what most people truly want.
