2013 Shelby GT500 Pricing Out
List MSRP is: $54,200. BUT, that's where the raping begins. I built the car I would want, with Recaros, Nav, Track Pack and it's all the way up to 64K with desination charege. Add in tax and that's almost 70K. YIKES!
I will say this, Ford does offer you options most ZL1 owners would want, like a real NAV, and Recaros...it's the extra cost to get the better suspension that really sucks. Ford makes you pay for the right set up as an extra, which is definitely advantage Chevy. I feel like both cars make buyers fork over huge dollars and accept from very big compromises. Personally, knowing how much both cars will depreciate once the re-designs happen and both cars become lighter and better, you have to have pin money to burn on either car. Love both cars, but just can't justify the price for either right now. |

I want to see some tests on the braking some of the reviewers don't like the boss brakes. I have never driven them. if it backs up the 3.7 0-60 11.7 1/4 mile 202 top speed and laps well 60k is a good price. it will take a Z06 to best it and they are not 60k. that being said the ZL-1 is cheaper in my eye's as I would have to have the performance pack and track pack. all and all I think they are both f'ing sweet. one thing I have always noticed with ford fans and the current GT500 is there is always but to anthing they say about the car. you point out a flaw and well that can be modded. with this generation that may not be the case.

The cars may get smaller and lighter, but I don't think they will pack such big power as they do now.

I was expecting a higher base price. It's amazing considering the power numbers cars are putting out today. If you told me 5 years ago that you could buy a brand new 650 hp car for $55K, I'd say you are crazy. Even 580 hp would surprise me.
Let's see how well the GT500 can get the power to the ground now. Bring on the ZL1 vs. GT500 tests!!!

I think Ford's smart to let people buy a GT500 "bare bones" (so to speak) if they want to. You can have a 650-hp car for cheaper than the ZL1, but if you want a true road car with all the bells and whistles, that's available too.
As it's been stated, nav is a complete ripoff on Ford vehicles. You can install an aftermarket nav with an in-the-console setup at a much cheaper price. I believe Ford wanted 2k for nav back when I built my Mustang. |

I will most likely getting the base model of each but the NAV on the GT500 is tempting as well as the alcantara package on the ZL1. Both will be getting the cheapest set track only rims and drag radials and gonna beat the crap out of it and try to be one of the quickest stock powered (to keep warranty) powered ZL1 or GT500. I may hold off on the DR's for a bit because real world test haven't been done yet and because Ford said that their launch control delivered the same acceleration times with slicks and stock tires after heating them up.

Figures the ZL1 can beat the Stang to 60. Acceleration is going to be the Stang, all the way. All the way to 200mph too. Corners will favor the ZL1, but I don't think the same amount as the acceleration will favor the GT500. I hope that Ram-air hood test car spotted last fall is something better than the current ZL1. Unless of course you are like me and you like the looks of the Camaro better. Then, who cares. The thumbs up from all the kids on the block constantly reminds me why I bought what I did. You want a crazy fast car that is at the pinnacle of the now... Buy the N/A F12 with 740hp! ( no blower or turbo)There will always be a faster car I guess.
