The I love the engineering in these cars but hate the styling.

As for the whole Hyundai name brand, the first thing I notice owners of these cars do is debadge the car, example gl2filmerguy's genesis.

Even Huyndai owners aren't fond of the badge.

They're pretty nice cars. The interior is very nice vs competitors, but I wouldn't drive one. Seems like it kind of fills the middle ground between various competitors, but doesn't really excel at anything.

None of the manufacturers are any where near the same as they used to be in the 80's and 90's. Hyundai has stepped up their game.

Not really, currently over 300lbs lighter and only beats the camaro in stock form by a few 10ths of a sec. Thats not saying much. Not only that its much lighter but still gets worse gas mileage. Its like the Camaro is loaded down with 2 v8 engines in the backseat but only loses the race by a few ticks. Imagine if the camaro was the same weight as the Hyundai. It would blow it away in speed and mileage.

Absolutely. Let's be honest, there weren't too many great cars in the 80s coming from anyone. Hyundai lingered in the crappy cars arena for a while, but they've really stepped it up the past few years.

Well that depends on which one you're talking about. . . the tau v8 equipped genesis sedan will play the v6 camaro like a fiddle. The coupe models aren't all that impressive in a straight line though and the v6 model is just about even with a v6 camaro in the straights, the 4 is slower.

Chevy should be shooting for at least 350HP for the V6. I hear Ford is going for 365 with Ecoboost.

I am talking V6. I doubt if the coupe will even take a V8 without the front end dragging the ground. Thats why its not even a pony car. A pony car is made to hold a V8 as a standard config.

The late 70s to early 90s automobile history should be ommitted from all history books.

With that said, if your remember GM will be using either the LLT or LFX V6 in the new DI formula series races. There I am sure the research will happen. Will it go to production or parts that we can purchase who knows.
As far as worrying about the competition, Honda, Kia, Ford, Hyundai, Nissan, Chrysler... etc, dont. Someone will always have something better / faster. It all depends on what you like and can afford.
That's because that's exactly what it is, the V6 was bred for economy first, the engine has some great performance stats for a non DI V6, I think they should be making a lot more power with the DI but people buy the V6 for economy first that's why the Camaro comes in 2 configurations (3 if you count the ZL1, which I don't because it's not out yet), V6 and V8.

V6: Economy, Looks, Daily Drivability
V8: Power, Looks, Performance Based Mods
Supercharged V8: Super Power, Factory Warranty with insane power, Looks

The V8 is the Engine Configuration that Most, not all, Enthusiasts will go for and GM knows this, that's why the ZL1 is a Supercharged V8 and not a TT V6.

As soon as the Fuel Pump problems are over however there will be a lot more people turbocharging/supercharging their V6's. Plus the V6 means we V8 lovers will be able to have one in the future

That all being said the V6 Engine is great it's just the weight problem they have to work on.... but that can be said about the SS and the ZL1 too.

I absolutely love my V6 vert. The V8 has insane power but for driving around where I live can't really use the power to its fullest, that is why I chose the V6 which is a good balance of power and still have the tremendous styling of the camaro.

As for the genesis,I would never buy one.I have never been a fan of the import sport coupes. The import styling always seems to be very similar between manufacturers
also, there is not the heritage associated with the genesis as there is with the camaros, corvettes, mustangs etc.

Until they have a V8 available it isn't a viable competitor to any of the Pony Cars.

I don't think that is their intention. 345hp puts them right in line with the 370Z, for the people who want to save few thousands dollars on a small sporty coupe.

That may not be the intention but almost everyone draws comparisons with the V6 models.
