I honestly don't understand that post at all. Also, please tell me if my analogy would be OK by. That was really what I was wanting to get across.

Let me run an analogy by you, OK? I'm doing your taxes. Instead of separating all of your receipts, invoices, bills, etc I put them in one GIANT box. Because hey, they're all tax related right? You'd be pretty pissed at me, and come tax season you would be up a certain creek without a paddle trying to find the right documents.

You guys are being a little extreme about my suggestion. Not everyone is looking for something specific from C5 and it doesn't detract from your sub forum structure to allow a single general forum for free flowing Camaro discussion. Specifics can still be had in the sub forums and threads that merit archiving that spring up in the general forum can be moved to a specific sub forum. It isn't black and white, one way or the other. A general forum can coexist with specific sub forums.

Again, I appreciate all the analogies but I do question your perspective. There are many members who simply want to kill some time each day chatting about Camaros and yes, there are many members who hang only in the general forum and occasionally jump in to a sub forum when there is something specific they are looking for.

You can set it up so that any thread you post in will automatically e-mail you a notice when someone replies since your last visit. They can be set for either instant, daily, or weekly notification.

Go here and under the second section (Messaging & Notification) scroll down to the second option "Default Thread Subscription Mode"

Its fairly cut and dry, IMO

If you just want to talk about Camaros in general, thats what 5th Gen General is for. But if it covers a specific topic that we have a sub-forum for, it goes in the sub-forum.

If it is truly that cut and dry, then how come nearly half of the threads started in the General Forum have been moved in the last few days? The distinction obviously isn't clear to many of the members who hang out in the General Forum. Again, please reassess your perspective...take a poll...think again.

First off the "5th Gen Camaro SS LS LT General Discussions" is a subforum itself. From the looks of this thread, it also appears that you are the only one who is upset by us moving threads.

Plenty of people just use that section as a dumping ground because they don't feel like putting a new thread in the proper section. Some knowingly put it in 5th Gen General because they think it will get more views. Others are unaware of the other areas of the site because they are new.

However, none of that changes what the proper section is for a thread. If someone is asking about superchargers vs turbos, posting it in 5th Gen General doesn't automatically make that the proper place.

I'd have to agree. 505 members online as we speak, and this thread has been a hot topic for over an hour. Only 7 people have posted in it at the rush hour time of day, and 4 of them are moderators. And one member asked a completely unrelated question which we also answered.. Seems organization may not be something to fear.

There are only six people viewing this forum and four of them are mods...what type of participation would you expect? Most of the members (as usual) are hanging out on the general forum. LOL!

Maybe the problem is that members need to branch out from the general discussion subforum instead of putting all of the threads in there for your convenience.

That's fine. I don't know about the rest of the mods, but I'll wait.

Also, I don't see it being a bad thing only having six people in the complaint section of the website. I'm happy for that

That's back to perspective I guess. You can heavily moderate and maybe achieve some compliance among the general membership or you could consider accommodating the general membership as I have suggested. Maybe you could take a poll (in the general forum) and ask about it. Or you can continue down this authoritative path you're on knowing that many members would like a more lightly moderated general forum.

At any rate, it's just a suggestion made in the correct sub forum. I'm outta here because I've got a business trip to take tomorrow morning with the chickens. No offense intended to any of you mods and I sure hope you'll consider my suggestion.

No offense taken. I had nothing else to do on my busy business trip as well.

And I appreciate you posting in the proper forum. It's really great to have threads in the right place. We found it and had a good discussion. Thanks for your feedback.
