It really depends on what exact models you're looking into. If you close the door a little bit, we could help more.

I've heard that these Silverados are really good. I've seen plenty of them on the road still.

This could also be an option.

I had a '06' Ford Ranger with the 3.0L v6....I loved it, got good milage and never needed to do anything to it other than regular maintanence, like oil changes, filter changes, and put gas it it!
keeping the camaro.. just wants my camaro to be in good shape for a long time, she said if i ever get in trouble in the camaro it i will never see it in our driveway so i suggested to getting a cheap little truck or jeep..

Nonsense. The facts are indisputable that giving a 16 year old kid a high powered "status" car increases their chances of getting into a serious accident and either killing themselves or killing other people.

That's not a responsible act by the parents, which is my only point, so drop all the "hater" nonsense. You're embarrassing yourself.

My parents gave me the hand-me-down 1986 S-10 Blazer. It was in amazing shape, even if it only had the oh-so-powerful 2.8L V6 pushing...110hp... And I loved the sh!t out of that car!

They gave me that vehicle, not because they couldn't afford to give me something nicer, but because it was one of those vehicles that would let me prove to my parents whether I'm a responsible driver or not. If I screwed up, the learning curve wasn't nearly as steep as the learning curve for...say...a brand new Camaro SS (which would've been a model year '99 at the time).

Too much power + too little experience = bad consequences

I see a lot of "older" guys wrecking these cars on this site because some of them can't even handle the power of a V6. Get over yourselves.
Let me guess, you never drove more then the speed limit, you always used your blinker when changing lanes or turning, and you always came to a complete stop at every stop sign. Right. I believe you

Yes, it does make them irresponsible.

I see why you resort to ad hominem attacks. You need to learn how to present arguments without logical fallacies.

To illustrate your logical fallacy, we can use this example:

Since my father smoked 2 packs a day for 50 years and didn't get lung cancer, who are you to say that smoking is irresponsible even though many people have died from lung cancer caused by smoking? And to claim smoking is irresponsible must mean that you hate smokers or are jealous of them for having the extra money to buy cigarettes.

Whether someone wants to smoke or not, or should be allowed to smoke, are entirely different issues from whether or not smoking is irresponsible.

As you can see, your logic doesn't hold up to scrutiny and fails to address the argument of irresponsibility. Whether or not parents want to buy their kid a high powered "status" car, or whether or not they should be allowed to do so, are entirely different issues from the question of whether or not it is irresponsible to do so.

Again, you are embarrassing yourself with your lack of rhetorical skills.
