Thanks, Cab2g. Even I was going to make that point. The familial resemblance is not a bad thing for a brand. You know a Porsched from a mile away regardless of the year and the same for the Corvette.

GM announcement in Bowling Green?

I heard on our local news this morning there would be an announcement by GM today in Bowling Green about the plant. They called it "a major" announcement. Did anyone hear what is was? Nevermind. I see it below.

Don't mess with success, imo. That's why I want to throttle the people that say the ZR1 look too much like a Corvette.....THEY ARE CORVETTES!!!!

A resemblance to the past cars is not a bad thing, in my book...Especially not if it's a Corvette.

These cars will blow the doors off of any comparable Euro-car for a fraction of the price, and it looks DARN good doing it.

I'm happy to hear they're investing in the C7...can't wait to see it!

Just like the old ZR-1. Not much separating the two models. Loved it! Sleeper

Building cars, or helping the plant to run so others can build cars?

Sorry, I had to state the obvious. Demand should double or triple for the C7 when it comes out so I'm thinking there are places in the plant where they'd need extra bodies around to accomodate that. Or, there are a bunch of folks who are planning on retiring at the end of the C6 production run and they need to be replaced. Or something else entirely.

If the new Corvette looked anything close to that, I'd totally be interested. I won't mind if they get rid of the split back window, but this thing has to look like it will kick any other car's butt just standing still.

Thats just the Centennial/Stingray car from a couple years ago. At most, the C7 will borrow elements from it but that is far from a preview of the upcomming 'vette.

The viper's coming back in 2012. The prototype's out there, it's already been seen at a dealer conference a few months ago.

This. The Viper went on hiatus because Daimler took the chassis intended for the next generation Viper (that chassis is now the SLS gull wing) when they cut their ties and left Dodge empty handed.

If the C7 looks like the Stingray concept I will be very interested.

I can't find it, but I remember specifically the guy in charge of the design of the new Viper saying something to the effect that the design is based on a "naked woman sitting on the beach"

Edit: FOUND IT!

Quote:
Ralph Gillies, Chrysler's top designer, told Bloomberg this week the next Viper will be inspired by "a naked woman on the beach" and will be "drop-dead beautiful."
