last summer they tested a manual with 3.31 gears and got 5.1 to 60 a couple months ago they tested one with 2.73 gears and an automatic and got 6.2. that's a big difference. wonder if ford's auto isn't as good as Chev's? at any rate they still put the mustang ahead of the Genesis in that article.
on a side note i've been wondering how well the Genesis has been selling. So i finally found a hyundai forum. They were complaining that it sold 15,000 in 2010! and one guy says "that's what the Camaro and mustang sell in two months" then another guy says 'well the Camaro design is already old. the genesis looks better and is rarer'
LOL

The truth is, is that the Genesis coupe is uncompetitive for the price point compared to the Camaro and Mustang.
For a 4 cyclinder Genesis $$$ gets you a V6 Camaro or V6 Mustang (with good mpg)
A V6 Genesis $$$ Gets you a V8 Camaro or V8 Mustang with over 100 more hp.

why people still pay attention to the articles in these magazines....I dunno. Personally, I never pass up a chance to read Motor Trend, Road & Track, etc. but I only look at the car photos and specs. I avoid reading the articles because they are enough other crap that pisses me off.

and then if they did put the 5.0 in the Genesis coupe, you would say that since it's not American, it can't be a muscle car... so please... the next Genesis coupe will be significately more powerful than the current one.. most people are mad because it took Hyundai much less time to make the huge technological advances when compared to American manufacturers..

In case you havent figured it out, car magazines have a huge hard on for anything new or what will sell issues. In 2009 the love for the Camaro was practically floating about every magazine stand like a cloud.

In 2009 it was the Camaro, all year long! In 2010 it was the Mustang, this year the Challenger is getting ALOT of press.

Now, what is selling magazines is the fact that Hyundai has a car that has broken into a segment, that being able to run with the V6 trims of the pony car. That is news, it creates hype, sells issues. Selling issues makes money, money is the name of the game.

It has absolutely nothing to do with Ford.

I see it this way. it is ok to read the articles, they keep me well entertained while I am at work haha. you just have to remember you are reading someone else's views and their opinion. It's not wrong or right, just an opinion. If what they said was the gospel we'd all be driving Toyota s, Hondas, and BMWs

Two differnet cars, on differnt days, different weather, different track and the numbers are un-corrected for DA. So, I would ask how the heck could they possibly have teh same perfromance numbers?

Pretty rediculous they'll test a loaded 30k genesis vs. a sub 27k Camaro...BUT they won't test it against a 31k 1SS.
then their numbers wouldn't look so good, would they?

Just for the entertainment value... I'm going to imagine the Camaro "couldn't be delivered in time" because GM doesn't recognize MT as being unbiased / credible / relevant enough to make the effort.

maybe GM should refuse to send cars. two years ago ford and chrysler wouldn't send V6 cars to test against the Genesis or the Camaro

You kind of answered your own question. It was a LOADED Genesis, so while the Camaro would be quicker, it would not the features the Genesis had which is relevant in this test simply because they were look for the best daily driver, not particularly the best performer.....
