MEDISIN,
"Here we go with the excuses again. So it needs an automatic transmission to beat a track-oriented Camaro with a manual transmission down a drag strip? What else? Lower tire pressure, after the engine is broken in, downhill, with the wind at its back? Would that help too? Are Dodge fans born desperate or do they become that way over time?" Using your logic it takes GM building a 75k Camaro to beat an automatic SRT8 Core 392 which can be purchased for 40k? Or come 15 it takes GM building a 75K Camaro to run with a 42k 15 R/T 392? See it works both ways .

Heads: The ZL1 keeps up with and can potentially beat a GT500 on a road course with loads less HP. HAHA Ford. Tails: The GT500, despite the fact that it has an outdated suspension that prohibits it from making a right turn at a stoplight, is potentially able to post better lap times than the Ferrari-sharing suspension based ZL1. HAHA Chevy.

Are you illiterate? That is the same MotorTrend review I posted above. It shows precisely why the Viper is failing. Thank you for proving my point. The Viper team had 5 YEARS to best the Corvette. 5 YEARS. What happened? They introduced the GTS in 2013 only to have it EMBARRASSED by the C6 ZR1 http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...srt_viper_gts/
Next they introduced the 2014 Viper TA and FINALLY managed to beat the outgoing, 5/yo C6 ZR1 around Laguna Seca by a whopping 0.08 seconds. This was vs the C6 at the end of its life cycle. What do you think happens when the C7 Z06 and ZR1 are put on the track with it? Let me give you a hint: http://jalopnik.com/is-the-650-hp-co...ers-1588262012 Quote:

The Z/28 was not built to compete with the SRT8. It wasn't benchmarked against it, it isn't marketed against it. Dodge has no answer for the Z/28 and for the last three years hasn't had an answer for the ZL1. There is always next year right? Just wait for the 392, just wait for the improved suspension, just wait for the 8-speed, just wait for the R/T 392...there is always next year right? Besides, according to AEP11, the 392 is just a waste of $10,000 since it is a drivers race vs the SS and GT. |

Here is the press release
press release from Chrysler: AUBURN HILLS, Mich., July 1, 2014 AUBURN HILLS, Mich., July 1, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The all-new 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT, with its supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI Hellcat engine, produces an unprecedented 707 horsepower and 650 lb.-ft. of torque, making it the most powerful Challenger ever, Dodge's most powerful V-8 ever and the most powerful muscle car ever. The 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT with Hellcat HEMI V-8 engine is rated at 707 hp. The Challenger's new 6.2-liter Supercharged Hellcat engine is also the first factory supercharged HEMI, as well as Dodge and SRT's first application of V-8 supercharger technology. For the first time in Chrysler Group history, the all-new 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT with a Hellcat engine comes standard with two key fobs -- red and black. The red key fob is the only key that can unlock the full 707 horsepower and torque potential of the Challenger SRT Hellcat engine; while the black key fob limits the driver to a reduced engine output of 500 horsepower. In addition to the awe-inspiring 707 horsepower of the new Hellcat HEMI, the new 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat has been redesigned and totally re-engineered to be the most true-to-form muscle coupe on the market with performance-enhancing technologies inside and out, including the new TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission and an all-new interior inspired by the classic 1971 Challenger. The Dodge and SRT brands now offer the most complete lineup of muscle cars in the market, including the new 2015 Dodge Challenger SXT with its standard powerful and fuel-efficient Pentastar V-6 engine combined with the TorqueFlite eight-speed transmission that delivers 300 horsepower and an estimated 30 miles per gallon; the 2015 Dodge Challenger R/T with the high-torque 5.7-liter HEMI now paired with the TorqueFlite eight-speed or six-speed manual transmission; and the all-new 6.4-liter HEMI Challenger Scat Pack that delivers 485 horsepower and 475 lb.-ft. of torque with the TorqueFlite eight-speed or six-speed manual. The 2015 Dodge Challenger and Challenger SRTs are built at the Brampton, Ontario, Assembly Plant and will start arriving in Dodge dealerships in the third quarter of 2014. |

Makes things interesting for sure. Now about that pricing and some details on weight and how they plan to put that power to the ground on 275's...

Game Changer will have 600+hp to the rear wheels
I can see costs at 1st in the stratosphere Now GM and Ford will do 1 of 2 things bring up the HP of the Mustang and Camaro or just concede and hope it is short lived and does not last |

It's still a 4400 lb boat. I'm still anxious to see how it does though.
