Sucks to do but brand loyalty isn't everything , you wouldn't order Dominos if Papa Johns had better pizza just because your family ordered Dominos for years...................

Have you seen the actual results showing a 179 on Nurburgring? What was the time?

If there is a Gen 5 Z28 coming, I would expect it soon. The 1LE was announced a while back and they said every 6 months something new would come out.

But if you do jump ship, I don't blame you. The GT500 is impressive.

Eh....corrected times suck. Actual slip said 11.1 @ 127 mph. Car was on Nitto's and had a tune. Milan Dragway this past weekend at the NMRA race.

N-Ring speed is from a well-sourced insider. Information is usually spot on, but no way to verify right now.

there is a vid on youtube, no "official time" but it verifies the 179mph

All I know is about this is this:
1. GT500 is faster in a straight line.
2. ZL1 is a faster in a circle.
3. I'd rather be seen in a ZL1!

Mine is better than yours. If I get in mine and go out driving, all is good. If I get in yours and go out driving, it's called grand theft auto.

Um no, there is no national speed limit. There is only state by state speed limits. National speed limit went out the window in 1995. As an example, here in Texas many roads are being opened up to 75mph (finally) and some parts are at 80. The state limit is 85mph.

At any rate, my point is, that no manufacturer should limit themselves based on the current safety and prudent laws on the books. Make cars perform better and safer and we can have faster limits. So to make this comment is to ask manufactures to limit themselves to status quo.

On the overall thread at hand, I say drive what you love. I get the sentiment of the OP but I drove the mustang even when it was the slower of all the muscle cars. Just like many of you, I drive it more than just the way it looks or performs. It's a combo that is hard to describe. I like the way it feels. I don't care that my neighbor's Camaro, Challenger, Charger, Neon, Civic, etc can go faster. I don't get why people give Camaro guys are hard time because they simply like it for looks. Just respect that I like my car for it's look and feel and we can all agree to disagree.

I also don't think it is terrible that a Camaro fan has an issue with GM. I had issues with Ford even though I loved the Mustang, I hated Ford. I thought their other vehicles lacked passion and felt they had given up on making a reliable vehicle. They just didn't seem to care. They have made great strides to improve their image these days but I still reluctantly recommend other Ford vehicles simply because their history was so terrible. My grandfather on my mom's side loved Ford and my dad loved Ford up until 2001 when his 1995 Taurus blew a head gasket and had 20,000 little problems. He swore he would never buy their junk again. So I get it.

Obviously this isn't the same exact issue the OP has but the sentiment is real. You can love the car and hate what the company is doing.

I remember when I bought my '10 SS back in may 2009 I was so excited, there was little to no real world data on them and I had high hopes.
I remember the realization sinking in of under performing L99s and the fact that the 5th gen really was no faster than the 4th gen.
Magazine tests at the time favored the 2010 Mustang GT with the track pack, then the 2011 5.0 came out and the 5 gen was playing second fiddle.
GM did nothing to answer ford, not even a dealer add on package.
Now after 3 years of Z28 talk we have the ZL1 which fbodfather and Al O. talked about like it was the second coming, the numbers are in and again its second fiddle...................
The 13' GT500 numbers are in and its trapping 129mph! The ZL1 has yet to trap 120mph
I am willing to bet after all this talk of track times that the GT500 will dominate there too :(
Everyones still in denial hoping its still in "break in" mode , the reality is the GT500 is a superior car, superior to the point its taking aim at GMs flagship sports car , it could care less about the Camaro, it already has the GT and Boss to beat it...............
For decades the Camaro was superior to the Mustang, whats happened GM???
I understand performance is a small part of cars and the average joe cares more about cup holders than quarter miles but to people like myself this is heartbreaking.
The Camaro is no longer about the horsepower and performance it once was (I understand the current gen is the most powerful Camaro ever, speaking in relative terms) , its a novelty
Some "average joe's" tend to care more for handling than pure straight line performance... and nowhere in your above statements I can see anything that talks about that.

I think first direct tests between GT500 and ZL1 prove my fact: one is faster in a straight line, ZL1 IMO is a more "overall performer"... not just quarter mile times, but also real world handling.
