the mustang GT will have slightly better times, and mostly will be a drivers race on the streets. the impressive one here is the V6, it sucker-punch both the camaro's v6 and challenger's. Its also is steeping in, the R/T performance
numbers.

I have seen dynos of ls3 camaros in the 390's...I dont go around nut swinging saying that camaros are under rated. I have also seen dynos of the camaro as low as the 350's. I dont go around sayin they are dogs. Common sense people cmon now.
This is true man, my car dynoed at 393rwhp and the shop asked me what mods i had. I have none but yet its dynoing hard and high, i don't know why its so high but it is what it is.

It's a SS in the video, an automatic, unfortunately.

The v6 Mustang definitely is impressive. Mid 13's will be very likely once in the hand's of owners!

My preferance is
1. GM
2. All other American cars
3. BMW, Porche, Mercedes

4. Might consider imports if I really like them.

in other words if I can afford a Z28 in a few years I'll get one instead of a 5.0 mustang.

They already stated they are planning to beat out the V6 mustang. Why not bump up the SS power as well.
Same here mayne. Would be flat out ironic though if a moderator for C5 owned a 5.0 lol. However, can you link me to GM saying they will outdo the new 2011 Mustang V6? I thought it was only hints with no direct stating of what their course of action was.

Doesn't seem our current L99s will be able to keep up with the new kids in town. Oh well... I'm only a couple grand away from a supercharger kit lol.

You know what I like about this? The fact that once Chevy releases the 2011 for testing, we'll get head-to-head testing between the GT and SS! I don't know if Dodge is changing anything for the 2011 R/T, but it'll probably be a repeat where they use last years because Dodge releases 'em so late.

So who thinks the Camaro's weight still isn't an issue?

Me! However, since we are talking about factory vehicles, this can easily be overcome by more HP and TQ.

Well, not insanely so for the 1/4 mile I guess. Only 1-2 tenths difference in the 1/4 mile for being up 12 HP, 200+ lbs overweight and having poor gearing.

Handling is another story!

i havent seen anything either, wonder what they are going to do, probably going to need 350hp or a lot of weight reduction

I'm going to throw it out there that I don't think the v6 Camaro is going to live up the v6 Mustang; the v6 Mustang is super impressive and I'm not sure Chevy can match it in one go this time. I mean, the MPG would have to go up, the power would have to go up and the handling would have to be better as well.

The SS and GT matchup seems like a much closer match up where I think Chevy could come out on top with some minor modifications.

Weight reduction could be justified, and since it would be on the whole platform even the SS would see a decrease in pounds. Personally, I'd throw some money at the Zeta platform to see where I could shed around 300lbs or so. Increased Engine output would probably be the short-term financial solution to this, but I believe that a weight reduction would directly effect sales considering the perfomance side of things would again tip in GM's favor. However, they still may choose the engine route because the rumors are the switch to an alpha platform would save around the goal of 300lbs.

IMHO, I don't think the General will have an answer for the Mustang GT in MY 2011 except in the looks department.

If Ford is pulling that kind of power out of a NA 5.0 liter/302 cubic inch motor and pulling 26 mpg, they deserve props for that kind of achievement.

I will say it again, the Helen Keller design team is responsible for the rear end in the Mouseturd.

itd be smarter to drop weight. the new 5.0 could only make 350hp if they managed a 3200lb car, and id much prefer that.

just like im sure you guys would rather have a 390hp 3500lb camaro
