The SS's front tire is bigger than the base GT's rear lol.
I definatly agree on the tires, ya know you can have the best engine/transmission and suspension ever, but you put the wrong size/type tire on there and it's al in vain.

Just go and read the 5.0 Mustang article. You should be able to see it online to get the correct info.

Also this engine has been in the works for a bit now. Lol people kill me who says "The Camaro is the reason you guys got a engine upgrade!) Um...no. The new 5.0 has been in dev since 2007 I think ? So..yeah just check that magazine to the actual factual facts.

Yep, 07 was when work began on the new 5.0.

fyi last gen m3 (2008ish the 414hp/3726lb) had a power to weight of 9/1. just slightly better than the camaro, weighing in a little less, yet its quicker. not to mention it has under 300ft/lb of torque.
Newton might argue with you about the advantage a 2000 lb car would have over a 3000 lb car with the same p/w ratio. F=ma is not an opinion.

There is more to the story than p/w ratio, of course, but there is no advantage to the lighter car as you said. You have to consider traction, power under the curve (not just peak numbers), gearing, etc.

You are correct that 0.3 is a sizeable difference in p/w ratio, really, the more telling value would be to plot p/w ratio of one car vs. another throughout the rpm range, otherwise you are just looking at the comparison at one point during acceleration. Either way, the 5.0 GT will probably have the advantage through much of the rpm range. When ford releases the dyno graph for the 5.0 we can do a better comparison.

so true. When I upgraded I had Nitto's 285/30's on a 20x10.5 and I spun all day long.Upgraded the meats and its a different story.

Wrong tires =no traction. The SuperSnake vs Henn proves that.

Yep it was 91 Octane. I believe that 91 Octane is where the SS receives its HP ratings from as well.

I think it was wbt that explained why the 5.0L was almost tapped out, from a N/A standpoint.

Kinda like the mustang guys who say, "If it weren't for the mustang you wouldn't have a Camaro."

Hennessey's HPE550 cranks out ~610 HP on 8lbs of boost. 500 isn't really that impressive in this case IMO.

GT500 > SS. There's your reason lol. Doesn't matter if you closed this one or not, there's like 3 other active threads over the same thing right now lol.

Oh well. Style is subjective, although the 2010 Mustang didn't make the final three cut for World Design Car of the Year, and it's basicly the same car sans new motors, and it's a redesign of the previous body. So what do those people know?

Personally, I think the Mustang is boring. I'm glad the drivetrain as improved though, and I hope the suspense at stoplights now perks up, lol! Someone above me posted the original Mustang wasn't supposed to really stand out, and that the S197 cars tried to duplicate that, well, they succeeded.

Again, I hope the powertrain lives up to the hype! It'll be fun to have some real competition!
I think "aggressive" was the word that I used. Completely different than standing out. I understand that this is a Camaro forum so I will stop there.

Not arguing that. It is nearly to that point in a N/A form imo as well. Just correcting what MICJ82 rant was...because his/her facts were a bit scewed with the orange tint glasses.

I could care less what anybody says about my camaro or my mustang. I like what I like for me and not anyone else. I think if more people had this attitude we could have a friendly vs sections without noops bringing it down with worthless rhetoric.
Equally, it's funny that mustang guys think just because we have a Vs section that they are entitled to come over hear and take shots at the camaro.

Respectful debate is always welcome but the rhetoric and insults are not. From both sides.
