I'll be buying me an acre or two just outside of city limit for this exact reason. If they were reasonable, and didn't charge a fee, then maybe I could see somewhat of a benefit. But most that I have been around are truly PITA. Bitch and moan about any little tiny thing. But I digress........... Will not ever be an issue for me because I refuse to live in one.

The best way to make sure your HOA functions in a manner that you agree is to volunteer your time and get involved.

One of the biggest advantages with the power of an HOA is when there is a need to negotiate with the city on development issues. As a single voice, you don't really get heard, but in large numbers, you can influence change.

I couldn't live in one. It's just too much fun shooting woodchucks, rabbits, and other assorted varmints from my upstairs bathroom window. Wife won't tolerate anything more than a .22 mag though

My brother and his wife like HOAs...but I think it is because they don't want to maintain their own lawn or clear their own snow. Wasnt sure how to tell them they could pay someone to take care of that elsewhere for a bit less than $200/month!

I live out in the woods - nearest neighbor is across the street, and my house is about 400' away from theirs. Then I'm on 3 acres, and surrounded on 3 sides by 200 acres of conservation land. I think if I parked a junk car at my house, it would be about 6 months before a neighbor even noticed.

Somebody has got sand in their Vag... I don't live in a HOA and never would but I wouldn't be happy to see an upside down POS parked on the street. Having a driveway that looks like a scrapyard isn't good for the value of other peoples homes.

If I turned my SS upside down in the driveway I'm sure a neighbour wouldn't like it for sure then....

You think a HOA is bad? Have any of you ever heard of Peachtree City Ga?

Ever heard of the TV show or book “Under the Dome”? No joke. The ENTIRE CITY makes any of your HOA’s look like drooling, cross eyed amateurs. And, believe it or not, they’re all proud of it and cooperative, including the children and teenagers. It’s truly a Stepford type place and one of the most amazing things I’ve ever seen in my life.

They call it “The Bubble”.

Well who knows they might not... I'll knock on doors and ask them... Besides I never said I'd complain about it or do anything about it I just said it would piss me off... Lots of things piss me off but I never complain about anyone or cause problems for them.

That interview was hilarious! Dude is a rich ass lawyer who dropped $600,000 on a tank that he is going to move from his multi-million dollar home to his ranch. Yeah I don't think he has a single F to give to his HOA

On a side note, I to hate HOA's. Our's are morons and refuse to fix anything in our community. It's about to become a legal battle. Our streets are in disrepair and we have a crazy goose problem and they refuse to pay professionals with the proper license to dispose of them. They do NOT have a problem leaving you nasty voicemails when you don't pay your monthly ransom though...

So in YOUR eyes, anything that isn't pleasing to your eyes is something to get sand in your vag eh? Guess you're not one to appreciate the hard work and craftsmanship that went into making it huh? Must be awesome to be like you, not showing any appreciation for anything except what you like in your little world. Go to an art museum, maybe a car show or two. If the thing didn't run, was falling apart and such, then yeah, I could see it rubbing some people the wrong way. But I would still congratulate the builder for an awesome job. It's art, a moving, driving piece of art. Granted, it's not my cup of tea either, but I'd at least take a sip or two. So narrow minded. If it weren't for people having brilliant imaginations and fabricating skills, the world would be that much more boring.

Even if you don't live in a HOA, the city can still have rules and regulations on what you can do on your property.

We had one next door neighbor, who for awhile several years ago, was creating a mini auto repair facility out of his garage and driveway. Thankfully, he stopped doing that.

One time, when he was working on some stinky POS F-250 diesel, it pretty much smoked me out of my own driveway and garage. I couldn't even go out and wash my own car in the driveway that day. lol!

I have a relative who lives in one and they tried to restrict the limited street parking. He happens to be an attorney for the county and he told them no can do.
I would never but those project cars and boats and trailers need to be in the garage or on the side. If you don’t have the space, then don’t buy the shit.
