1 - if Naturally Aspirated is your choice then you can only have the LS7. The LS3 is about maxed out. The LS7 is hand built and costs about double or more what the LS3 does and closer to an LSA. So lots more money.

2 - if you were hoping for this "de weighted" car with all kinds of low mass parts to reduce the weight so that you would notice the performance and handling and still use an LS3 you would need about (and this is my guess and it's conservative) about 6 to 10,000 dollars more for the aluminum and Carbon Fiber not to mention re engineering in some areas. So lots more money there too.

3 - if you were hoping that GM would simply yank stuff off like some people want and sell a car that most of the people buying it wouldn't enjoy because well without A/C, Tunes and a back seat you don't have much of a car. That is a car with verrrrry limited appeal today.

Just a few reasons. But not knowing the content it's tough to say.
Honestly I see the Z/28 different than most people.....

I would be happy with a SS based Z/28.....
The power could be easily released from the already awsome platform by just using a free flowing intake and exhaust. Maybe a more aggresive tune. You could lose some of the unsprung weight by throwing on some lighter wheels and rotors. Tune the suspension and you have a hell of a track car without adding a crap load of costs. Im easier to please than most people though...lol

But after typing all of that.... it occured to me that yall know what your doing and have probably already beat this to death in offices all around GM. Im sure what I just said has been brought up a thousand times with people around that really understand whats going on... like you (not me). I see the Z/28 as a model thats more track friendly and not a GT500 killer... thats what the ZL1 is for
