Good read, but I still hate seeing lines like "now they need to build cars people actually want". GM builds more than the Aveo, and nearly every new model since the 2008 MY is great and many are in demand.

Yeah, i was watching CBS yesterday morning. they did a piece on Ford. At one point the reporter said the japanese passed the U.S. in sales. I was thinking "they did?" then they said Ford was going to be the biggest automaker in the world. 'They're smart! they didn't have to borrow from the government!" they just borrowed 23 billion privately. Most of the pieces on the car industry are done with no research. It's like a high school kid is doing the report.

Unfortunately, very true. Especially of non-automotive reporters. They have no business reporting on the subject. In these cases, I support plagarism...less chance of getting something wrong.

We wrote much better reports than that in high school.

The article overall had a very good tone. GM has certainly made its fair share of mistakes. Nobody is denying that. However, many of GM's newer models are fantastic, and I would hope we don't see a small slump because of the financial position GM was in over the past year or so prior to the bankruptcy. They didn't say "OMG GM MADE THE CAMARO! THEY'RE SO HORRIBLE! THEY SHOULD KNOW EVERYONE WANTS TO DRIVE A PRIUS!"
