Any idea why my A/C is being funky?
Sometimes it blows ice cold and sometimes while or driving or just randomly it will blow hot air instead of cold? It's a 2011

I'm not trying to call you dumb, but are you pressing the AC button in addition to setting the dial to cold? It is the left button on the right gauge cluster.

My A/C is not very good. Its just Ok if on a highway on recirc blowing full. Slow driving it sucks. My truck will freeze you out. i am thinking of having the Freon level checked.

When you're doing all of this, you'll be doing a quick diagnosis on your compressor too. See above. |

Don't forget to get your coolant flushed out regularly too. Being a 2011, you would be due for that. While coolant doesn't effect the AC system, if your car is running hotter than it should it can effect the cooling slightly.
Never hurts to have your car diagnosed, but either it's low on freon, or something is damaged.

As everyone has said, most likely your freon is low and you need a recharge. You can do the can from the auto parts store.
Usually you end up being a pound low or maybe a little more when the A/C starts doing that. Most shops will charge you to evac the whole system and recharge it but DIY can work as long as you don't have to buy 3 cans to recharge. 3 cans can end up costing the same as having a shop evac and recharge the whole thing. Just went through this last weekend. |

Sometimes an AC that works intermittently is an indicator of a compressor going south. That's not a good thing, but perhaps it's only the drive belt, or some other simple thing that causes it to work intermittently.
Also, when the freon started running low in my Blazer, the compressor would kick on and off intermittently. I don't know if the Camaro has a similar system (I would presume that it does), but this could be an indicator of nothing more than low freon. |

Mine was doing the same thing when the car was brand new, I just added maybe a 1/4 can of 134A, not much at all and made a huge difference.
