I bought one for my sons first holster as I felt they were pretty safe, he still has it.

During the draw out of almost any holster one should have your trigger finger along side the firearm, point/shoot if you will. To release the firearm from Serpa the trigger finger is already in that position, made it easy to teach. I always told him, leave your finger there until you are on target and ready to fire.

Really no idea why they would ban them...............

Agree that they are hard on the finish, none of my 1911's have ever been in one.

That is the reason why they banned them. We do not typically like them on our range. I have seen very experienced shooters AD with them practicing draws under time. Too many better options out there especially for tactical holsters. These are the ones we recommend:

This with thumb break:

Not the best images but you can see both options...

Lowest common denominator and Murphy's Law. I think it can be overcome through training but I still don't think it's a good design. Good riddance, IMHO.

I was planning on switching all my holsters to Safarilands anyways. Don't have to switch between a thumb break and finger release going from my duty weapon to off duty.

The grip is textured on the VP9 but I personally like a littler more aggressive or positive grip. Once you decide on the size of the interchangeable panels, consider ordering these : https://talongungrips.com/grips/hk/vp9.html for a squeaky tight grip.

Also, the VP9 was made to run 124 grain ammo hot. It may have an ejection issue with cheep, lightly loaded,115 grain ammo until the firearm has a few hundred rounds through it. Then it will pretty much digest anything.

Can you even carry a firearm in NY ?

.
Yes. I'm not in NYC (just outside of it, so state/county rules apply).

I was disappointed with the grip texture on the HK.

Absolutely take a look at the TALON grip panels. I run them on a number of autos and they can really TRANSFORM a gun. I ran into a super deal on a SIG 320 compact , but didn't care for the grip feel. Added the Talon soft panels, not the sandpaper type...transformed the gun from ; meh...to very useable.

There are several You Tube videos on the Talons...how to easily and properly install, etc.

Good Luck.

Well f-balls. Looks like my dealer may not actually have an allocation for the Z I had them order. So I'm head to the range with the AR and 700rds and both my .40s and about 400rds. That should get my frustration out, lol.

This is why "Becky" is always the correct answer.

Yep. That's how I found out. But according to the dealers rep it was a go. They're going to have him check again Monday. We'll see. Anyway, a bunch of targets were shredded.

Heating up some barrels is my favorite way of relieving stress, yesterday it was 118 degrees out and boy did the barrels get hot and stay hot!
