AWESOME car Ssooch!! Same color as mine. I didn't have the high sport package though. I had around 81k when I traded it in from my Dodge Ram Daytona truck. LOVED THAT CAR!!

Nice cars, not a huge market for large 2 door sedan type cars though. I believe they didn't sell in a high enough volume to warrant another generation? Also they would have probably ended up being 4 doors anyways. Too expensive to have 2 different door configurations on that volume as well.

Basically. Coupes generally do not sell as well as their sedan counterparts...

Indirectly...the Camaro has replaced the two-door Impala...I mean Monte Carlo ...

I never really cared for it, personally. But I've heard very good things about it from every owner I've ever come in contact with. But I think Fenwick's got it right...chances of coming back in the near-term are slim-to-none. There's really no need for it, imo.

Yeah, I agree. Making it a 4 door car in my opinion, would just ruin it.

wonder why they got rid of it, the 2002 model was nice, I loved that red chevy badge on the back :( if anything they should of got rid of the impala. I just rented and 2009 from enterprise while my car was in the shop and I really didn't enjoy the look of the exterior or interior. Seemed too cheap to me, hell even a corolla seemed nicer...

as a fellow Monte owner here, i have a 04 LS coupe. I bought it off my dad last summer who he bought as a demo when it was only 6 months old. I have to say dollar for dollar this is the best damn car I have ever owned. It has plenty of room, i took me an 3 of my best friends on a 120 mile round trip to buffalo and back and nobody complained, in fact they loved that it had a arm rest with cup holders that flipped out of the seat. big trunk, even bigger when seat is flipped down. It has plenty of power (only 20 horses less than the SS model), and it snaps my head back when i get on it. I love the styling of this car, you can just TELL it is a Monte Carlo even with no badges on it, the profile reminds me of a combo of the 80s Monte and the mid to late 70s cars specially with the 2 crease lines on the front and rear fenders. And i have to say for a factory sound system it rocks, even with the bass and treble at half way settings i can see the rear glass vibrate when i look in my rear view mirror. I have almost 150K on Monty, and I WILL buy another one in the future, maybe a SS !

Personally, Monte Carlo is one of my favorite cars, period. But the 2 doors cars are just not as popular and people who want a sporty car go all the way-or have a family. It just sucks imo, id love to have new one. best of everything. at the end of its run, it was merly a 2 door impala-a badass-2 door impala. Maybe in 7-10 years we might see another Monte. If the Camaro dies im sure the Monte will take its spot.

yeah i like that even though it was all Impala underneath it shared ZERO sheet-metal and interior bits (minus things like door handles and switch gear etc) with the Impala. I remember when the all new 2000 Impala came out and i heard they were gonna bring the Monte back as well. but i was under the impression that it was gonna be like the Lumina sedan with 2 doors missing and slightly different fascias to make it into the Monte. I was totally blown away by the styling of the 2000 Monte even in the 'base' model was a sharp looking ride, only the cheesy steel wheel with hubcaps ruined the looks of it. I am glad my Monte came with 16" alloy wheels that show off the 4 wheel disc brakes .

I've got a 98 Z34 with 168,000 and it still runs great. I like the car but it's getting too old for me. I probably will replace it with a sedan or SUV. The two huge doors can be a PITA. I like the last gen of MC but it always seemed to me that the rear end styling never matched the front after they used the impala front end. Never really meshed.

As far as i'm concerned the current Impala is better looking than the last Monte Carlo. I liked the MC in the 80's, but the last one looked so long , it looked like a throwback to the 70s. And the backseat didn't look much better than the Camaro.

The back seat on my 2002 Monte was a freakin' queen bed compaired to my new Camaro.
