Anyone else recommend a gun or ammo buying site? I used to use cheaperthandirt.com but I do not feel they are the powerhouse they used to be.
I purchase my bulk ammo from UN Ammo. They always have great prices on AK and AR ammo. My 9mm
I get from Cabelas

I get ammo from www.targetsportsusa.com Last bulk I bought was 1000 rds 5.56 55gr from PPI. I believe it was $349. They are the only one's I've found that will ship to a residence in NY. Everyone else it's $4 to go thru an FFL

Thanks for the extra websites. Some of those sites have a better selection of 7.62x39.

gun-deals.com is where I go to check prices and get good deals. Mostly on ammo as my local gun dealer gives me great prices on actual guns.

Well I got my new shield back from s&w yesterday and they fixed it so all is good with that. I also talked to a couple gun shops and got ffl transfers prices from 25-30$ all the way up to 55$ for the transfers. The one that was 30$ I was happiest with and they sell all the ar parts I've been looking at plus hooked me up with a pair of holsters for a good price. Hopefully this gun ordering business online won't cause me a divorce lol.

I just bought a hard case to ship my AK back to Century Arms for repairs. Anyone have any suggestions on shipping this? This will be my first time shipping a rifle. Thx

I followed the shipping instructions from s&w. Make sure it can't be identified as a firearm and put your own insurance on it if you can. When I shipped mine I had to put it in another box so it can't be identified. I had to tell the clerk at FedEx it was a firearm. Check your state laws on shipping a firearm also certain things you have to follow and they are different state to state.

You can ship a long gun via USPS. If you ship UPS or FedEx, they will make you overnight it.

Only FFLs can ship a handgun via USPS. Anyone can ship anything via UPS (must be at a hub and not a UPS store) or Fedex (not sure if it has to be at a hub).

Ugh, ok so find a box to fit over the case and try to ship USPS? I checked on line and they state that I cannot ship US postal service, only FedEx or ups. Shipping overnight will be about $200 thought but if rather ship it that way than ground any day. I worked for FedEx ground. If you only knew how they treat packages. sheesh!

Straight from ATF.gov
May a nonlicensee ship a firearm through the U.S. Postal Service?

A nonlicensee may not transfer a firearm to a non-licensed resident of another State. A nonlicensee may mail a shotgun or rifle to a resident of his or her own State or to a licensee in any State. The Postal Service recommends that long guns be sent by registered mail and that no marking of any kind which would indicate the nature of the contents be placed on the outside of any parcel containing firearms. Handguns are not mailable. A common or contract carrier must be used to ship a handgun.

https://www.atf.gov/firearms/qa/may-...postal-service

As far as a box, hit up some gun stores for a box. Wrap that box in brown paper and tape the crap out of it. Wrap it twice. Or go to a store that sells boxes and make one of your own by cutting boxes.

I just read this on their site. Make sure you read it as it states to include a magazine and to contact them for an RAN# and also contains the following:

We have implemented a new policy for all our customers. We will now provide you
with a prepaid shipping label to return your firearm.
