Has anyone considered that all of these #s are with it running race gas??? When it's on 91/93 it will only be making right at 800HP, so they could easily claim a 10.0/10.1 1/4.... Boom now you can drive it at an NHRA track! That is until you run under 10

And for all of these "Demon is cool but the COPO is better" comments of course the COPO is better!!! it's roughly 700lbs lighter, has a 3-speed auto (what most drag cars use), live rear axle, and most importantly IS BUILT TO NHRA STANDARDS!!!! So in my mind you can't really compare the COPO and the demon...

4. The design is outdated (1970's), the chassis is still outdated.

It's a cool car, and if you are wanting that one trick pony, and yes it's the best at that one trick, then by all means, go and get it, it's awesome.

I do think that GM hamstrung themselves just a bit by leveraging the LT4 in the Camaro (but this did keep the costs down). The Corvette can't fit a tall motor, which is what the HC motor is...it's tall with a tall blower on it. The Camaro probably could have been better served with a 2.3 or hell, 2.9 liter blower, but then it would have more power than the corvette so....

Anyway, sorry the current Challenger platform is just not my cup of tea, as cool as it is.
You pretty much covered it all very well on this one post. Especially the small pullied blower on the LT4

The sum of the parts of the Demon is what is groundbreaking here. If Dodge is looking far ahead you will see sub components on this drag car show up in other Production street cars. I see the Demon as a rolling test bed that just changed the game. The 1.36 sixty is the most impressive number. Think about that for a minute. This thing hits harder than a freight train with a warranty

When a factory car can lay down a 9.65@140mph in a quarter mile I'd hardly call the chassis out dated. The Challenger line of cars are very road worthy and comfortable with good visibily and very nice interior appointments. They hit a homerun with the car and all 3000 will be gone in short order. The gosl of a car manufacturer is to sell cars.
The race fuel you speak of is what, E85? My Silverado can run on the stuff. 100 octane unleaded gas can be purchased at the gas pump in many laces. I love drag racing!!! Dodge did good.....

I agree, it's pretty cool, but again - one trick pony, arguments are made that Dodge is fine with this - I think you agree? The Chassis is outdated, it's going on what 11 years now. It's heavy! How many Camaro fans would have loved if they came out with a Gen 6 Camaro on the Zeta platform but it had 750 HP...some..but not ME!!!

You know what, I can go by an Gen 5 ZL1 with LSA and throw on a huge blower and have a 1200 HP car and probably cost me total $50K.

This is the last breath of a dieing car company......

Nice try but leave the high HP to the real car companies like chevy...who build complete overall performance cars....

This is one of the biggest issues the Camaro will face. When it comes to the high power versions, Camaro is not just fighting Dodge and Ford, it's fighting GM and the Corvette.

Sharing the base engine with the Corvette makes sense and works well. Sharing the top tier engines with the Corvette limits the Camaro and makes it predictable.

They are trying to spin the NHRA ban as a badge of honour. I think it's an oversight and speaks to the safety of doing this without meeting proven criteria.
So although I love that they engineered and built the Demon they left one thing "undone" NHRA compliance. Why did they send it to the NHRA For testing anyway if not for certification? On that mark the demon misses big league.

Unfortunately this is very true:( When it comes to pure "HP Wars". Even though one could confidently say that Chevy has the best all around line up of performance cars!

Yeah, "until", sure thing. We are talking about now or has GM done their reveal of the C8 and made the 850+HP official? Until they do it is a pipe dream.

A mass produced, assembly line, production car that runs mid 9s unmodified is bombshell and it's a Dodge, so what. Would it be better if it were Ford or GM. I just love the American auto industry, good for them. The fanboy stuff is very stupid and really does nothing to promote the performance car industry. I've always been a GM and Ford guy and have never owned a MOPAR anything but would grab this beast in heartbeat. Good for Dodge doing what no other manufacturer has done before. They are getting the lions share of attention and well deserved praise.
