Well since I started this thread I learned that we are a diverse group of camaro enthusiasts. Some companies.me to bring me back to my first car that I purchased in 1978 when I was 18. I took all my savings gs at the time approximately 6,000. I was single living at home and didn't have any other expenses. Now at 57 and surviving a heart attack last year I said the future isn't promised but hopefully my ZL1 is promised albeit sliding TPW's. Guess that's another type of stress test. All I can say no matter our age is enjoy the beast. Hopefully mine will be here one day in the next few months. Ordered 12-16 TPW now 4-24

20K in a simple investment model would double every 8-10 years as history has demonstrated. That 20 grand would have grown to 350-600 thousand in 40 years. Live for the moment and expect those who have saved to pay the taxes needed to support your irresponsible lifestyle when you are a senior and broke.

Well then I take it back. GM shouldn't just send you a birthday cake. For 35 GM products, they should also also add candles.

Ps. My list would be too ugly to be reminded of. It started with a Chevy Chevette in tweety bird yellow, and included such prestigious cars as the Cutlass Supreme, complete with rust hole ventilation (which apparently window screen material and Bondo don't truly fix).

Just my 2 cents on the issue of too young. When I was 17 I purchased my first new car, it was a 1970 Chevelle SS 396 and was just over $3000.00 dollars. Don't know what that would be in 2017 dollars but I was only making about $500.00 per month. Had a hell of a lot of fun with it, and at 17 that's all you are thinking about. I retired at 56 and I am still having fun.

I get your point but over 56 years ago it wasnt unheard of to be working at a much younger age than kids today. Just out of curiosity what did you do back then?

When I bought my Chevelle I was working at a Chevrolet dealer washing cars, driving the wrecker and doing a few oil changes. Later I got into selling parts for them, and spent 35 years doing that. I worked at 3 Chevrolet and 1 Cadillac dealer in that time.
And you are so correct about the age of kids working. I had my drivers license when I was 14 and was driving farm trucks in the summer.
