Question Tundra vs Jeep SRT as Daily Driver

My trusty ol 82 Blazer died yesterday.

Which would you choose?

The Jeep SRT or Toyota Tundra?

I had both op. It depends on what you are looking for as far as useage.

They both get shitty fuel mileage but both are about as fast (tundra cuts off at 110). My Tundra is a 16 4x4 platinum crewmax with a lift and 33's. Very smooth, comfortable, and looks amazing. I get plenty of compliments and it pulls my enclosed 28 ft trailer ok although fuel takes a huge hit.

My previous dd was a 2013 grand cherokee srt. Could not tow, kind of limited on what you could haul. 0-60 was amazing and put a shit eating grin on that could not be wiped away til you hit 105 and it fell on it's face lol. Fuel mileage was around 15 combined.

For me I prefer the Tundra as they perform somewhat the same (straight line 0-70) but the tundra is more spacious inside, has an actual bed, and full time 4wd if you opt. For me a truck is useless in 2wd (a complete waste). I average 13 combined in my tundra and can tow if need be. Both are not price friendly but that is not the question I'm assuming lol. Hope this helps.

Yes. I am leaning to the Tundra for the towing capabilities.

SRT

I'm biased tho

2014+ has 8 speed transmission. 7200 or 7700lb towing capacity with factory hitch. Fn fast for 5000lb vehicle. Top speed is 155

I know dif ppl have different needs....but there's no question I'd choose the SRT every time.

I want to like the SRT8, really do, but I heard some folks have a lot problems with them. Please correct me if I'm wrong. I know how it is, a small percentage of people have trouble and then you think everybody does.

Tundra - known reliable. Can do all the truck things. If you need all the truck things. Downside, they are everywhere, literally I see a dozen of them for every 20 minutes on the road here in Texas.

Some problems like any manufacturer. I bought my 2014 SRT new, traded it last year...little over 20k miles

Rotors replaced under warranty to fix small squeal.
One Brembo caliper clear coat peeling, prob from rock chip.

That's all I ever had issue with. There were several other probs on the platform but most have TSBs out to correct so I wouldn't have been worried keeping it. Get maxcare lifetime warranty if you can/want.

I'm personally too into performance to settle for the Yota, but you asked what we'd do lol

Cool, that's about what I expected, but glad to hear confirmation from real owners. Not just that one semi-acquaintance friend on Facebook that had a lemon or whatever.

No problem. I did absolutely love that thing. Only traded bcz it was my gf and my only ride, she wanted her own vehicle again so we traded the SRT for 2 vehicles.

The SRT was performance oriented so obviously the ride isn't as smooth nor the seats as soft as other Grand Cherokees or similar.
Hauled all kinds of stuff, fairly spacious inside. Rear seats fold flat. Large Cargo area, also the spare is inside the floor, not hanging exposed underneath.
Never towed but saw lots on the forum that did with no issues.

Toyota pickups are known for reliability. If your keeping this vehicle for an extended period of time that Tundra is the way to go. Short term.......have fun with the Jeep.

My wife put 45k miles on her 2014 SRT. It never went in for any warranty work related to mechanical issues. Bought her a new M5, but she still misses it. The cargo area is "meh" however. I daily a 2007 WK1 SRT8 and it has more practical cargo room....plus a rear window that opens independently.

My 2007 is for sale in the other items for sale on the forum.
