My wheels spin (attempt 2)

So my wheels spin inside my tires. I have looked a lot for solutions other than beadlocks but in the end I am OK with getting beadlocks if I have to.

My question is though, should I need to? I see other cars putting down more power and better times without beadlocks. What else could be going on? I am about to buy a new set of wheels and tires so I need to make a decision soon.

Previous set up is automatic convertible on 18x11 Foregstar F14 with MT Street R 305/45/18 doing 10.8x with 1.6-7 60 foot times. I had 315/40/18 05Rs previous and this wasn't a problem but those tires would break loose, MT are stickier.

I will have at least 50 more whp this season and planning to go to 305/45/17 Street R

We had that problem last year with 18in wheels....we remounted with-out soap (DRY) and let set pumped up 35ish lbs or so for about 3 or 4 days...didn't move afterwards...now we have Welds 17' and run MT ET R's with no problem @18lbs...Hope that helps.

FYI...when ours did move they would move 2 to 3in per pass...not good IMO!

I know these were mounted with plenty of lube of some type. I was thinking that maybe they just never stopped being slippery in the bead.

I am just nervous about buying wheels and then having to buy again if they spin.

They moved half way around the tire after a day at the track.

What kind of rims? I have welds with tubes and I just used rim screws.

Didn't Chevy have to media blast the bead area of the wheels on the Z28 to keep the tires from turning on the wheels.... this might be an option.

Mount dry if doesn't work...

Etch the inner portion of the rim where the bead holds with grinder or dremel. And mount dry, before you put pressure to the tire heat rubber with blow torch or heat gun (a little!), let sit for few days at max allowable pressure. Store tires when not in use at high pressure.

Bingo - This bead area solution that Chevy did was announced in March 2014. Implemented racing solution.
Mark Stielow, Z28 Program Manager, talks about the problem/solution in the video in this article:

Back when my dad and I had an all out drag car. We just drilled the rims and added screws into the tire. Kinda a home made beadlock. But that is what everyone else did too. That was done with slicks to.

Remount dry, clean the beads and rim, mounting dry and use bead sealer.
