Pondering the drivers license tiers...which would somehow be like a video game "leveling up" scenario. Seat time that can't be bought + track / street evaluations purchased by the driver allow you to level up. You pop in at 16 after passing all the current tests and observations and can be assigned a level 1-Novice automobile (you or parents buy). DMV manages those levels during license and registration renewals with potential Sheriff inspection. Manufacturers follow those guidelines (mods prohibited on level-1s with potential jail time + fine + loss of insurance if found modded during a traffic stop.)

Level-2 - etc etc.

Many owners of exotics get good seat time at the schools or elsewhere. Usually they can afford it. Collectors, they just look at them anyway and trailer to events...no worries there either.

As a car-guy father of a 14yr old...I could definitely see myself getting behind something like this. You got CDLs, special endorsements, Motorcycles...why not? yeah yeah, more gov't intrusion.

Don't even get me started on the Prius. I'd say 75% of my in car bitching is solely about those asshats.

The only issue with a tier'd license idea is if each additional level of license costs more (and you know the government would find a way to milk every dime).

Brings up another thing that annoys me! Safe speeds. A 6500lb F250 or a econobox prius isn't designed or intended to be driven 100mph. I'm not saying that we should be allowed to legally drive that fast on public roads. But, a lot of sports cars are designed to safely travel at those speeds. With bigger/better brakes, tires, suspension, and handling. Yet, in the eyes of the law a Ferrari is = to a Prius.

Probably an auto trans. He could have maintained better control with a stick by hitting the clutch to disengage all power to wheels as soon as it got squirrely.

I don't disagree that sports cars can handle speed much more safely but what to share a related experience.

I had a 2008 Opel Astra (think Pontiac Vibe) for six months in Germany. I routinely drove it 110 mph in the middle lane of the autobahn for two hour trips to Austria. I expected that engine to blow up after running near red line for such a extended time with the oil never getting changed. The car held up fine and it's a common sight. The sports cars rocket past everyone in the left lane doing +150 mph

There needs to be a douchebag lane, one that zaps the f out of anyone that deviates from that lane while actively douchebagging.

If the only time you can crack 35mph is on a straightaway because you just don't want that a-hole in the car WAYYY nicer than yours to be able to pass you, you're a douchebag. If you're jealous enough to brake check someone 75' back, you're a douchebag. If you're checking your rearview more often than looking forward because you're worried the person behind you might actually have any fun.....you're a douchebag.

Too many d-bags on the road these days. They DESERVE the road rage directed in their direction.

Remember grade school tests? I want to be to Pruis's, what Hitler was to Jews. Them fu**ers gotta GO!!!

The most un-pc statement, but I know 99% secretly agree.

The Prius in many states is just an excuse to ride in the HOV/Diamond lane alone. You have the same a$$hats driving them that would be driving any other car like an idiot.
