Corvette Dealer told me 6 spd is not a LS3
I was at a Corvette dealer and when he was telling me the differences in the 2 cars. He mentioned that the Corvette has different heads and the motors are not the same. He also said that it is not the LS3 in the Camaro. It is a L99 in both the standard and the Auto. Can anyone add some details to this? I know on this site I have seen it as the L99 auto and LS3 is the Std.

I am more interested in how someone becomes a Corvette dealer through GM without having to sell the other lines. Were you at the BG plant and ordering through them?
L99 is auto, LS3 is stick for the Camaro. GM wanted to play with fuel economy and gas-guzzler tax avoidance on the Camaro line. LS3 is in both for the Corvette. I think the weight of the vette helped the mpg on paper so no need to do engine experimentation. Just IMHO.

A corvette dealer? Did GM finally break the Corvette into it's own line? Either way, run from thst guy. He knows nothing about Corvettes or Camaros.

This is a dealer of Corvettes in Maine. Not a new car dealer but they specialize in Corvettes. They do sell other cars as well including Camaros and Mustangs etc. When he said it I thought it was crazy since I think the build sheet even says LS3 right? Is there a difference between the Corvette and Camaro motor at all? I thought the difference was exhaust and air intake that made the small difference in HP between the two?

The C6 Corvette uses an OTR intake, and different exhaust set up. Not sure which, or if there is a difference in accessory set up that accounts for the additional 10 BHP. Come to think of it though, I don't think I've seen a RWHP comparison of the 6spd C6 Vette vs the 6spd LS3 Camaro. I wonder, because at the launch of the Gen6 Camaro, someone did dyno pulls of the Gen6 vs a new C7 and the Camaro came out with a few more ponies at the wheels. |

All things being the same rpo (LS3) then no, they are the exact same engine. Exhaust and air induction are the only differences.

Don't feel too bad. My Chevy dealer cannot tell the difference between the stock front and rear wheels on a 5Gen SS.

So this reared its ugly head during a complimentary tire rotation I assume?

This happened to me for my second oil change. The only way I was able to quickly tell was that my passenger front had a small curb rash which then appeared in the rear when I was inspecting my car for pick up. I initially thought they curbed the rear wheel but nope.
