the states I have to agree will not get the Ls9. The car was never put it out there enough and most people do not want to pay this much for the ss to begin with. I love mine and is a great car. To me another great car that gm will lose. But thats what happens when the car really was a holden anyway.

The SS probably isn't getting the LS9 or even LSA that it deserves in its final year. Amazingly the SS actually got less advertising than the Pontiac G8, which I didn't think was possible. 2 great cars going out without people even knowing they existed. Thanks GM, now make sure to keep cranking out those Malibu commercials.

The SS is a niche car. Not many people want a RWD V8 powered sedan. That is the reason GM has only sold ~2,300 in 3 years of production. The chances of GM building a version with an LS9 are slim and none. GM is reluctant to build niche cars, since they aren't profitable and considering their financial problems in the recent past...well you can imagine. Why throw money down the toilet on non-profitable vehicles? It is also the reason why we will not see a GM competitor (Cruze SS?) to Ford's new 350hp Focus RS. Niche cars are a waste. Please see "Chevrolet SSR" for a prime example of how to waste tons of money.

They don't need a RWD platform or even a V8. Look at the Camry. They use it in the Busch Grand National series against Mustangs and Camaro's and in Winston Cup(sorry I am old school )

With all that being said, I am totally in favor of GM combining all the Chevrolet full size sedans into one RWD 11th gen Impala.

^^^I like Impalas. But they need to design them with some kind of distinction. More angles or something to not make them just another thing off the same drawing board as all things seem to look. I have a 300c just because of the different look on the road. Even if you don't like the car, it is not like anything else and you certainly can spot them.
surprisingly, people like to be the same, but different! I want to mod my car to be different, just like him.

Explain how the SS was needed where the existing Impala or Malibu would not have sufficed? Impala and Camry are the same size.

GM didn't design either car for NASCAR. Rather GM saw an opportunity to provide Holden with a temporary shot in the arm for sales/manufacturing and replace Impala in the NASCAR circuit.

they can barely justify selling the current model. the pics i have seen of the '17 mild refresh made the car look worse.

As much as I love mine, I don't see anything special for the final year. If they were gonna release a FI version min the States, it would be the LSA way before the LS9. Sale are low already due to price and stop sale issues. There is now way anyone or very few would pay a $30k premium for a LS9 version. IMO

It sucks the car never made it mainstream. But it is what it is. People who bash it never drove one. But as said it truly is a niche type of car. But I for one just can't own regular daily boring cars. I bought mine and glad I did.
