New Car in FL

I'm not really "new", well maybe to Camaro6. But I was a long-standing member of Camaro5 ever since it started. Back in March of 2016, about 6 months ago, I sold my highly modified 2010 2SS/RS. I "thought" I was finally growing up (at 45 y/o!!!) and wanted something more practical and family-friendly. I bought a 2016 GMC Canyon Crew Cab SLT Diesel...which was great for that exact purpose!!! And the gas mileage on the Canyon was incredible, I was literally getting about 30 mpg, which was basically double of my "old" Camaro. But after 6 months of ownership....the Canyon was boring the hell out of me!!! I missed my Camaro terribly!!! So.....fortunately, I have the best wife in the world, who agreed to my plan to sell the brand new Canyon and buy another Camaro. Originally, the plan was to buy another 5th Gen. But after test driving the 6th Gen, I knew I wasn't going to be happy in another 5th Gen.

So....this happened yesterday!!!! 2016 2SS (Auto)
Red Interior (obviously) and the red knee pads, NPP Dual-Mode Exhaust, Black Low Gloss Wheels, Black Bow Ties, Red LPO Hash Marks, All-Weather Floor Mats. I am thrilled!!!! Glad to be "Back in the Saddle Again"!!!! But no upgrades for a year....that's the agreement with my Wife!!! I went kind of crazy with my 5th Gen!!!! A small price to pay I think.....

I am curious, you went forma heavily modified 2ss to a stock 2ss...

Would you say the new cars require a lot less modifying and are more out of the box amazing? Or you just want to have the most unique whip on the forum and modifications are life?

Did you modify you 5th gen to make it faster, cleaner, handle better, comfort?

Wow, all good questions! My 2010 2SS/RS was always Naturally-Aspirated (N/A), it never had a Supercharger, Turbos, or Nitrous....mainly because I couldn't afford it at the time! But it did have just about every other conceivable bolt-on mod available. I worked for BMR Suspension for about a year, as their 5th Gen Specialist. So my car went through several different suspension transformations, eventually ending up with a good stiff road-course-ready system that was also comfortable enough for the street. It had LT Headers, full cat-back chambered exhaust, Crane Cam, gears, posi, etc., etc. It pretty much had it all, except for forced induction power adders. I dragged it occasionally, but not on a regular basis.
The new car....I would say is much better straight outta the box than my 2010 was. With the electronic NPP exhaust, and factory tri-Y header-style manifolds, I really don't see a drastic need to upgrade the exhaust, unless you are serious about racing and are trying to squeeze every last drop of HP out of it! My 2010, in the end with all the mods, had more HP than my stock 2016. But with the refinements of the LT1 vs. the LS3, I honestly think the LT1 makes better use of that power. Plus, with the 2016, no loss of HP due to the automatic transmission, which made me switch from a manual to auto. With the reduction in weight and overall mass, new platform, and improvements to individual components, I would also say the suspension is superior to the 5th Gen in stock form.
That being said, I do not "intend" to go mod-crazy with this new one, like I did with my 5th Gen. Hell, over the 7 years that I owned my 2010, I had 7 different sets of wheels on it!!!! I think I'd end up divorced if I went nuts with this one like I did my "old" car. Don't get me wrong, there will be a few mods here and there I'm sure! Maybe even a new set of wheels someday. But for now, I'm pleasantly pleased with the car, and don't see the need for any immediate improvements. Hope that answers your questions!?!?!

Thank you for your experience. When I bought my Camaro I debated a truck and my wife convinced me to get the fast car since I have motorcycles and she has full size suv. This further confirms why I need to quit thinking I should have got a diesel Canyon as I know they will be boring as well.

Now a Frontier diesel with a cummins maybe different. NAH not really.

Yeah, the Canyon was great....for a fuel efficient kid hauler! But, it was one of those...."you don't know what you got until it's gone" moments after I sold my 5th Gen. I missed it badly, and I am so happy now after selling the truck and getting this new Camaro!!!
