I ordered a mount for my AK and it came with the sight. I was mainly going after the mount but since there was a sight included i figured why not. I didn't think it would last but i figured it would last longer than 2 mags. The mount seems to be solid to last a few sessions.

I fired an AR with a red dot once. Pretty good. But I stick to irons except for my 70+ year old Weaver 330. I figure if it hasn't died by now, I'll never kill it.

Specifically what make/model scope? Before I settle on anything for the A17 I want to know what to avoid wasting any time looking at.

Here ya go. Ruger P85. An oldie but a goodie. Looks like something the RCMP would carry, lol. Still need to get out and use up the 20 year old ammo.

On the subject of scopes, It's only my opinion, but anything under $200 is gonna be junk, with a few exceptions.

Rather than buy a new gun, consider paying upwards of $500 for a very good optic. I paid twice that for a Vortex, plus another good chunk of money for a top shelf quick mount, and can use it on any rifle with any picatinny type rail.

The only thing I would change, I would have done it sooner.

That makes perfect sense. I went cheap and it cost me. I purchased a combo sight and mount for $60 from Ultimate Arms. Top of the line junk, haha! The mount is pretty solid though. The sight is D.O.A.

The P85! Was good to me. I can't remember what the trigger was like. Wish I never sold it.

Been so long since I fired it I can't either, lol. Don't think it will match up to my VP40, though.

Probably not. Back in the day i don't remember triggers being that important to me as they are now.

Agree with Mr Twisty the scopes, on all my rifles the glass cost more than the rifle itself.

That's insane. By that measure the scope on my SCAR-17 should be at least $3000.

You paid 3k for a SCAR, let loose with the money, Richey Rich.
