Our Malibu's hitting 35-36 MPG on the highway after two years and 38,000 miles.

Just to get an idea, what would you say would be the the number of miles to attain for a full break in?

Depends on the car...can't really say. You'll notice a difference in the car when it's broken in.

I remember when I first got the Cobalt...I was scared senseless that I got duped into a sucky car for about a month...because I couldn't get over 26mpg highway no matter how good I drove.

Then, after about 7 weeks, the mpg-o-meter started climbing...to 28...then to 30...and now I can eek out 35mpg on the highway if I drive "nice". (No passing at over the speed limit, and no hard acceleration)
