Engine heat through vents

Hi guys I'm getting a lot of engine heat coming through my two top vents even when my heat is off. Is this normal.

make sure you set the air circulation to recirculating interior air, not the setting to allow air flowing from outside. I had noticed that before and flipped the recirc button on and its way better.

I investigated this in the 5th Gen (opened a thread there), tracing the heater hoses, found no water shut off valves in the heater supply or return lines on 5th gen. So, even with the heater control off and the air control not sending air through the heater core the heater core would still get boiling hot summer or winter. The HVAC housing would still absorb some of the heat from the core. Previous vehicles I've owned did have heater core water shut off valves and seems that manufactures are doing away with them. Do not know if this Gen6 setup is the same as Gen5 but from OP description sounds like it is the same.
