Am I the only person that reads the owners manual? When we got the Camaro in April I read the manual cover to cover.

Pardon my ignorance: what does it say. Hard to believe that you can't find a way to break or kick a window out when you are dyeing. I will now add one of those window and seat belt tools to the glove compartment. There are used to help others in an emergency..... easy way to break out you're own window.

All the C7 Corvettes have a removable top if it's the "hardtop". The picture shows a hardtop, however I don't know how long or if his model also had a removable top. I'd just take the top off the car and step over the window if I had to (though I also know where the safety latch is).

How long was he in the parking lot with no one seeing him? Lots of gaps in the story. You don't die instantly of heat exhaustion.

Really sad. Simple solution for all cars that the automakers could and should do ... just put a point on the seat belt buckle. It could then be grabbed and rammed against the glass to break it just like the glass breaking hammers.

Curious as to why he didn't take out the manual then and try to find a possible solution. A little reading goes a long way.

In the article, it had a picture of his Corvette. It did appear to have the removable hardtop. I would think he'd have a hard time removing the roof, or possibly stepping over the window because he had a dog with him, as in a small dog. I doubt he read the owners manual though.

Or possibly use the manual releases on the floor. The Cadillac CTS coupe had the same electric releases and setup as the C6 (which the guy had) and C7 Corvette.

When I was growing up we had manual everything...kids these days mostly have electric. After 10 minutes, when the Camaro powers down, kids can't get out because they don't know about manual door locks. One time one of my kids (she was probably 5) was throwing a fit and would not come in while I was carrying groceries. Eventually the car powered down and she got stuck. I started to wonder where she was, went outside and saw her screaming inside the car but couldn't hear a sound. This Camaro now, with the clown trunk exit, all the kids have crawled through it as part of a "training exercise"...anyway, make sure your kids know how to escape.
