Is there a inexpensive way to convert low gloss black wheels to glossy?

Hello all, I'm looking for a inexpensive and effective way to turn the 200$ low gloss black wheels to the glossy look. Also please don't respond with " just purchase the 1900$ ones". I had to cut the fat on my build and wheels was where I made the compromise. I'm sure there's a cheaper way than the 1700 bucks GM wants for this.

I would like to do the same. Powder coat seems to be the answer. Find someone in your area who has already upgraded from stock and wants to unload them, then get those coated gloss. I tried this but shipping was too much so you have to find someone close.

I'm a little confused. Why do I need to switch wheels. I just want the black ones to get the glossy finish. Also we seem to have pretty much the same build except color. Any ball park range for delivery for verts after build.

If you use clearcoat, there is a special bodyshop clearcoat that requires baking it on. It's the only way to do a wheel. Standard clearcoat not baked will chip off within 6 to 12 months

All in all, you are much better off with clear powdercoat.

Thanks glen e I've seen many of your post on all things exterior and I was waiting on you to comment. What's the price range? I seen one of your post regarding things like clear bra etc... and you said you don't do any of that on your cars, just wondering why and what's your method of dealing with chips and things of that nature? Sorry to go of topic.

I'm use a novistretch bra for long trips, no clear film or regular bra protects the radiator like an novistretch does.

I've learned to fix rocks and things pretty well with touch up paint so there's no need for me as a daily driver around town to have clear film. Just a personal choice

Rubbing compound would probably shine them up. But clear coat will add another layer of protection. Wrapping them is another option, but I would be concerned about bubbles, and peeling. You could try polishing an area that doesn't show to see if it works. It would probably be the least expensive route. Be careful not to "cut" too much material off. If you go the clear coat route, I would recommend finding a shop that uses ceramic clear coat. It dries super hard, and has superior scratch resistance. But it's not inexpensive.

I was thinking of wrapping until I saw sledgehammer video, attempting to wrap his side mirrors . I think I'll try the compound before I consider other alternatives. Thanks

You should be able to get them clear coated for about 50 bucks a wheel. The wheels I'm going to buy are satin and I'm going to clear coat them, not a fan of flat or satin. They just don't clean up well. My road is asphalt but kinda dusting since its out in farmland. So the glossy clear coat will just work better for me.

Plasti dip makes a glossifier for its normal colors. Maybe that would help? Idk...just an inexpensive idea.
