They could start by replacing that rediculous cast (aluminum/whatever) metal intake manifold for a composite one. That's gotta be 10+ pounds right there.

lol u guys are gonna be crying when challengers blow buy you fat a$$ and all...you guys look at weight and thats it....look at its performance numbers.... and the camaro specs have yet to be announced lol....stock ls3 vettes do 0-60 in 4.3-4.4 you seriously think the camaro will be in the corvettes weight range...your kidding yourselves...now if it was the same platform as the vette i would agree...but its not it will be alot heavier and probably have the same performance numbers as the challenger if not slightly better....but the only way you beat a challenger is with mods....ls3 mods are better and more available then hemi mods :( but im getting my chally for looks and performance..cant wait to race some camaros pushin 400 hp ls3s....i love it!

No thank you. I hate people who nag about punctuation and grammar on a forum. Just stating my point. I like the camaro but you guys are underestimating the challenger.

lol it is so so sad that you can't defend your car, all you can say is ZOMG SPELLING BEE TIME LOL.

I LIKE ALL MUSCLE CARS. I AM JUST DEFENDING ONE.

i knew it wasn't a good idea to post defending dodge on a camaro forum lol.

forgive me!!!!!!:seesaw:

They're not just looking at weight; they're looking at hp to weight ratio which is the most key statistic in drag races. The fact remains that the Challenger is unnecessarily heavy, with the drag coefficient of a square building, and doesn't have the hp to overcome those drawbacks. It isn't that we dislike the Challenger, as nearly everyone has stated we welcome the competition, it's that we're disappointed that Dodge didn't bring more to the table when resurrecting such a respected nameplate. And don't even get me started on the God-awful interior.

And sorry but spelling does count. If you want to be taken seriously and thought of as having an intelligent opinion to contribute then you could at least make an effort at typing in something resembling the English language. The non-native speakers on this forum put more effort into their posts and by not doing so you risk being either ignored or placed in the Troll category.

Yea sorry about that I tend to type fast and misspell when I am in a hurry.

But I totally agree with you. Dodge could have used the LY platform and put the 6.4 l hemi which would have resulted in lighter weight. But they had recently sold the company and as a business, I understand why they used the existing platform and used parts from the charger for the interior. It saves money and makes them more money. The 6 speed tremec should make the challenger perform great and give the camaro the challenge it is looking for.
Hopefully by 2010 Dodge will use the LY platform along with revamped engines (6.4) just as their doing with the new 5.7 with mds and 375 hp manual transmission.

Sorry about the Troll vibe I gave off earlier.

Yes MadHatter, my point with the language exactly. English is a second language to me and it's just sad that I both speaks and spell it better then many who have it as a first language.

But we're getting off the point. It is as TheMadHatter says, there are many factors. And to the me simple fact that Congoman felt while tesdriving it that it felt "like a boat" is not a good factor for the Challenger. If people are at a choice between the Camaro and Challenger and go after handling I'm pretty sure to say that the Camaro is going to win that. The Zeta platform that the Camaro is based on is reported by several sources to have fantastic handling in the Pontiac G8 and its overseas versions, and that's a car that's a bit heavier then the Camaro will be.

I don't hate the Challenger. I like that they had the guts to go with such a major retor style. But I think it was a mistake to go with the same platform as the 300C and Charger.

Yea that was the first bad news we had heard over on the Challenger forum.

"Challenger will use LX platform not LY"

I cried,just kidding...well just a little.

I am praying the Camaro doesnt have any bad news coming out of monday's revelation.:( I just have a feeling due to safety standards the camaro will be short of what alot of members believe it will be. Hopefully I am wrong. I am buying a challenger late next year but I love all muscle cars except for the gt500. I really thought they couldve used the new boss 6.2 they were working on but instead chose to go the effective but IMO cheap route and just throw a blower on the Cobra engine and call it a "SHELBY".

But that is a whole other topic.

^Totally with you there. I'm an oldschool guy and I'm disappointed we're not getting a true hardtop. Okay I get it adds weight but I really wouldn't care. I still think that car looks fantastic and I will buy it once I have the money, but it just lacks that zest that you get with being able to have that big ole opening on the side.

I was under the impression that the '09 Challenger's is using the LY platform and the '08 was using the LX

BTW, The SE is not a threat yet, when 2010 come around the new 4.0 liter Phoenix V6 engines will be well north of 300 horses

here is my simple logic behind the Camaro > Challenger

G8 GXP > Challenger

G8 GXP < Camaro

Camaro > Challenger
