Also. the longer they go before announcing the SAE HP, the less time Ford has to announce something better BEFORE the ZL1 hits the dealers like they did when the 5th gen ZL1 was announced.
GM announced it at 580hp, and within days Ford announced a new Mustang at 650 or so,
Before the ZL1 hit the streets.

Wrong - In 2012, the ZL1 came out with 580, the 2012 Mustang GT500 had 550hp. It wasn't until the 2013 model year that Ford bumped it up to 662hp, while the Gen5 stayed put at 580 for its 4 yr run.

The ZL1 debuted in the spring of 2012 and the uprated 2013 GT500 info was released days after Chevy made known the hp rating which would have meant the ZL1 was only on the market a couple of months before the ford. The 2012 ZL1 was a late in the model year arrival and that is the reason it may seem like it was available in 2011 as a '12 model year offering but it wasn't.

That's all. It would be great to have a whole new engine...but I don't think it is based on what we know.
I am more that likely wrong but didn't the LT1 of the 90's have several versions of the engine? example Fbody had its version of the LT1 but the Impala had a slightly different version. So maybe it is possible to have the same LT4 but with a different SC? Only time will tell but I do think its the same SC with better air flow and heat extraction.

Yeah I don't see why they would have to rename the engine for some minor improvements, if anything it's good to see that maybe they saw that their was an issue that they could improve upon and addressed it.

Yes. The Impala and Roadmaster had a version with iron heads. And I could be wrong but I think the camaro was 2 bolt and the Vette was 4 bolt.

The NYIAS had a pretty cool display of the LT4 in the Cadillac section. The engine was in motion, and I was mesmerized....anyways, obviously, this is the CTS version of the engine with the low-profile plenum cover.

But I got a decent photo of what's going on inside there...and what might be affected with an taller cover.

Minor mods I don't see renaming necessary, just recertification but if you change the size of the blower it would be a totally different motor with a completely different power level, and GM has renamed when that has been done.
