All right boys- girl needs help getting the sound she wants.

Hi guys (and girls),

Love my Camaro. Love the sound of the V8, especially on startup. Want more of it (and honestly, some more horsepower wouldn't kill her either). BUT- some problems:

- Want to continue driving at Laguna Seca, which has a 90 dB limit
- Probably need it to pass smog again at some point
- Don't want drone if I am driving on the highway at 60-90 mph

Loved the sound of straight pipes, but they're too loud for Laguna and not reversible (might want to change it someday), and apparently long tube headers are illegal here, so I think I need some kind of bolt on exhaust that will just amplify what's already there. Started looking and there are way way too many options. Borla? Flowmaster? Something else? Where do I even start looking??? Is there a thread somewhere around here where I can listen to stock Camaros with different exhausts? Are there any keywords for specific sounds that would help to narrow my search (i.e. is "throaty" different from "rumbly"?)

Also, am I better off buying one myself and bringing it to my shop guy, or having him buy one? Does it matter?

Also, why do people post "Camaro exhaust" videos on youtube and then have MUSIC covering the sound? I'm trying to listen to the car!

Not urgent, but if you have recommendations, please help!

Also, I see this:

But again, soooo many options- how do I tell which ones are applied to a stock Camaro and which ones are different sounding because of other changes? Where do I start for a simple, first-exhaust upgrade?

I can't help you GET an exhaust because I've only had a Borla Atak, it's extremely loud with LT's and I'm 90% sure it would be too loud for your uses without LT's. So if you were considering it, don't.

Agreed. With those rules, no weeds or cut outs.
