First, on the street. Many of the wheel attributes won't impact performance other than mass. A lighter wheel is easier to control. So, yes, unsprung mass is a good thing for keeping the wheel planted. Also, the rotational moment of intertia would be lower and hence (not likely in practice) easier to spin and accelerate. However, there was a big deal made on the Corvette racing team a few years back when they switched from BBS wheels to OZ. The reason was the lateral striffness of the wheel. So yes, you want light, but you also want stiff which are generally contradictions. They gained 2 seconds per lap at Le Mans with a wheel change, which as you know is forever in road racing. It is also why most race cars don't run 20 and 21 inch wheels. So for the average street warrior, I'd go styling, mass and then stiffness. If you are going to the track, I'd go stiffness, mass and then styling. As I said there is a lot of science in selecting a wheel and that science needs to know if you want more than looking awesome in your Camaro.

'86 2.8L V6 5spd.. No T-Tops.. 80K miles original. Original Clutch and trans, original rear end. 2700 bucks.
I have the cash on hand. FUUUUUUUUUUUUUU! Eric does need a better car than that Monte Carlo though. And this thing is a prime target for a 350/LS motor swap. But w/ no job I dunno..

Eh, I was wary of calling it an LT1 because the heads and valve covers didn't quite match. But after taking a second look he was right after all. Nice call, Tac. You get a cookie.
I take it that's your 94 Z, Spike? |
