Ok, scratching the Explorer:

2007 Ford Edge SEL AWD

9K Miles, total brake system rebuild. Short story: Lost all braking power. Had it towed and found it a factory fault with the master cylinder..ABS sensors.. etc.

Paint: Same water base issue that plagues GM and Chrysler. Damn EPA

Performance: was an afterthought. It's basically a glorified people mover without a 3rd row. Sounds ok from the inside, though. Explorer sounds much better though (lol)

Interior: Chrome plated plastics and a few bits of actual chrome here and there. Gauges were alright, stylish and functional. Later models fixed some of the location issues and for what its worth. Seats aren't comfortable for more than say 20 minutes. I've driven both the Explorer and the Edge on an identical route (2.5 hrs both ways 5 hrs total) and the Explorer's comfort is much BETTER than the Edge. How does that work? Also I never understood the forward jutting head rests; THE most annoying thing about the car. The 'padded dash' is no more padded than say an arm rest on a Silverado 2500HD Work truck so..lol? Plastic Fantastic Hand controls on the steering wheel were just.. TOO multifunction. I've come to hate them actually. The Camaro's deep dish set is preferable to the setup the Edge has and again I prefer the simple cruise controls on my '01.

Not the greatest and I wish we got more for a 36K CUV. I'd have to sit in a Equinox in January but I have a feeling that it may outclass the Edge in interior feel and comfort.

Purchased in respective years (just to give you an idea of my brand history) 2001 Ford F250, 2002 Ford F150

Within last five years: 2006 GMC Yukon Denali, 2006 Ford F250 Diesel, and I currently own a 2009 Ford F150 Platinum.

I'm a Ford truck guy thru and thru. It's not based on anything other than I like how Ford makes trucks. I like their styling, available options, and have had zero problems with every one I've owned. That's what keeps me coming back to Ford for my trucks.

I haven't had too many cars in the last five years. Only two other than the Camaro was a 2006 Mazda3 and my 2008 Infiniti G35. Leased the Infiniti based on lots and lots of research on the internet and test driving a few other cars in its class (Acura TL, Cadillac CTS). Ultimately the Infiniti was the best bang for the buck for me, and I absolutely love the car.

So, any statements I make (I don't really make brand-loyal statements tho) are based on experience. I agree, it isn't fair to make statements without ever having set foot in the car.

Not built in the last 5 years, so despite the experience, it does not apply in this poll.

Again, not built in the last 5 years.

Ditto.

Double ditto.

Nice story, but like the others, you examples were not built in the last five years.

See, I was wanting to see if the opinions of the brand-loyalists (GM, Ford or Chrysler) on this site that like to make comments regarding cars other than their prefered brand are making those statements based on actual experience with the other brands or just heresay from someone else.

See, I tend to think that a lot of people choose the brand they do not based on their own driving experience or research, but by what they have either been led to believe by their environment (i.e. my dad was a die-hard [insert brand here] guy) or simply by information they get from anything other than a first-hand experience. (Not unlike how so many people in our country decide what political party they vote for.)
Well, I'd say your poll is a bunch of None of what you just said was even implied Then try and turn it political

Technically all Ive ever owned was GM. The wife has a 05 focus, my mom had a taurus that was an endless black hole for her hard earned cash....and transmissions, and a crown vic that the frame cracked on. I drove some ford trucks for work. But I do like Ford for the most part (minus exploders, and last gen taurus'

my wife has an 07 charger R T.We looked, she drove, she said I'll take it.Very nice car.Not nearly as nice as my 2ss.It's very comfortable front and back seats. We have actually gotten 34 mpg on 89 octane with cruise set at 50.But she typically gets like 14 or 15.I gotta tell ya.I really like the mustangs. But I could not bring myself to buy 1.I flat out refused. My first car was a 69 camaro .I have a 99 f250 fords do great trucks. if it wasn,t a power stroke I would definately get rid of it and buy a duramax. But it's paid for so I'll keep it. I was really feeling crappy hearing and seeing all them mustangs come by my house while G M was on there top secret mission to get this dam car going.Yes I am very glad I held out.Today I pulled out of the gas station in my rjt 2ss and bam 2 black gt500s passed me in the opposite direction in a matter of seconds. Now I know camaros are gonna be proliferating in the days to come but,for now and always the camaro is just straight up way f@#$ing cooler hands down. Not planning on buying any other cars any time soon except maybe a 2011 or 2012 z28 if it comes.

Haven't had that many vehicles so I can just list them...

1978 Trans Am - Black & Gold
1984 Camaro - Red
1987 Trans Am - Midnight Blue
1991 Acura Integra - Light Blue -WORST CAR I'VE OWNED!
1987 Chrysler Conquest - Red - Was wifes car when I met her
1994 Dodge Caravan - Green
1999 Chevy Cavalier Z24 Convertible - Red
2004 Chevy Suburban - Dark Blue
2009 Dodge Challenger - Deep Water Blue

So, score is GM - 5, Chrysler - 3, foreign pieces of sh*t - 1

As far as quality...don't notice too much difference between GM and Chrysler. Both have held up very well, even when neglected a bit.

I think he's doing it across the board to gauge how some people say the in the past 5-10 years interior layout has gone teh suck on Domestic cars. Not to mention the balking of some people internet wide about this sucked on their edge, or this was crappy on their malibu.

He just wanted to poll and get down to the nitty gritty, perhaps?

At least that's how I'm seeing it now.

No, more like he is upset at some Ford bashing and wants to see if the people that bash the vehicles have any experience in them. Garagelogic and fdjizm always have the same agenda: bash the GM product at every chance they get.

I don't think it's as much bashing the product as it is bashing the rabid koolaid drinkers that refuse to be objective about the domestic automakers products.

Basically: Troll the fanboys for the lulz.

How about the "I haven't owned another domestic company's car but driven them (e.g., parents own one+, company car, etc. etc.)" option?

It's a poll. How can a poll be BS? As for trying to turn it political, I and everyone else on this board know there are some people who will vote Democrat every election regardless of the candidate in question just as their are others who will vote Republican no matter who is representing the party.

No, I could really care less about the interiors. I thought cars built by the big three in the last 5 years would be more representative of what kind of cars they each build in this day and age versus what they might have produced in the remote past. Every manufacturer is likely to have experienced at least one "bad" period in their history. It's unfair to judge the current company based on cars produced in that era, that's all.

Help me out and explain you definition of "bashing". I have no beef against any specific brand and will gladly offer up what I feel are shortcomings, based on my personal experiences, about any of them.

Believe me, if I was only on this board looking to bash GM at "every chance" I get, then I've missed a ton of opportunities through the past couple of years.
