Hello from Long Island NY

I'm 6 weeks into my 2012 Camaro 2SS RS, Manual tranny. I'm 54 and this is the nicest car I've ever owned! The more I drive it, the more I love this car!! I'm a decent shade tree mechanic so I plan on participating and asking a few questions. Car is going into the dealership tomorrow for an alignment and I want them to give an opinion on my noisy clutch.
Chris

CONGRATS on the ride, and Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to Camaro5. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in it...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's, wives', husbands, girlfriends and boyfriends here don't care....and take it easy.

oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.

Welcome!!

The car is at Atlantic Chevy in BayShore. They did the alignment but want to hold on to the car for further diagnostics. They confirmed the stiff shift into 2nd gear. My sister warned me about Atlantic, but I was treated like gold when I got there. Lets see if their mechanics are as good as their customer service.

Welcome! These clutches can be noisy. It doesn't mean they are going to come apart. 106K on my noisy clutch now.

Welcome and nice ride.. I concur with sea compiler. I got mine back in March and complained about the noisy heavy clutch. I was assured by my dealer and five other places I had it looked at the cat was fine. You are correct to question this to eliminate any doubt.. Congrat and enjoy you new red rocket..

I have been lurking around here long enough to know that this heavy duty clutch makes noise, but wanted to get their opinion in case something was definitely wrong and to get it on record in case the noise gets worse. Turns out they focused on my tranny with the noisy, notchy 1-2 shift. Seems I'm getting a rebuilt or new tranny. I will then have the option of paying for a new clutch since its a wear item. They will pay the labor to install the clutch. Seems reasonable to me.
Anyhow, thanks for the replies and the welcome!
