But if one of them can NOT make the playoffs, I'd rather that happen and take my chances on another afc team taking down the pats. Because if both teams make it, I have to root for 2 teams to lose. The "right time" to get hot is in the playoffs. Consider... 2009 SB Champs: New Orleans. Last 3 games: 0-3, two of those were at home. That included a loss at home to 3-13 Tampa Bay. 2010 SB Champs: Green Bay. Last 5 games: 2-3. That included a 7-3 loss to 6-10 Detroit. 2011 SB Champs: NY Giants. Last 8 games: 3-5. That included a two-TD loss to 5-11 Washington. 2012 SB Champs: Baltimore. Last 5 games: 1-4. 2013 SB Champs: Seattle. Last 4 games: 2-2. 2014 SB Champs: New England. Last 5 games: 3-2
