Not getting email for new posts

Sorry if this has been addressed, but I'm new (today) and I'm not getting any notifications when someone posts to a thread I'm subscribed to. Any ideas?

You need to change your subscription settings. At the moment, its set to 'Subscribe with no notification'

You need to change that to either 'Instant email notification', 'Daily email notification', or 'Weekly email notification'. Please note that when you make these changes, it only applies to newly subscribed threads. All old subscriptions will maintain the old 'no notification' setting. I can walk you through changing it for the old threads if you like.

Should this be a sticky also, my threads are set to daily in the User CP: Edit options area and I have not received any emails in the last two days from the subscribed threads.

To update old thread subscriptions, follow these steps:

  1. Go to your User CP (top menu bar, 4th item from the left -between Wiki and Community ... or follow this link)
  2. At the bottom of the 'Subscribed Threads' block, on the right hand side, you should see a link to 'View all Subscribed Threads'. Click on it (if you can't find it, just go here)
  3. A table of thread links will be shown. In the grey bar along the top of all the threads, you should see the following:Thread/Thread Starter; Last Post; Notification; and an empty white selection box
  4. Click that selection box at the end, it should auto-select all your subscribed threads on the page. You can also select (or deselect) threads individually from the 'All Subscribed Threads' page if you like.
  5. Scroll down to the bottom of the thread list. There is a black bar with a drop-down list on the right side, on that list 'Move to Folder' will be the default selection.
  6. Click the drop-down and select whichever subscription type you want (please be advised that 'Daily Subscriptions' are not working properly at the moment). Once you've made your selection, click 'Go'
  7. If you have multiple pages of thread subscriptions to change, just move to the next page & go back to step 4

That is a separate issue that admin is working on. I've been keeping MarkLS2 up to date on whether the instants, dailys, and weeklys are working or not.

Weekly and instant subscriptions don't seem to be affected at least ... not that that helps you

That is a different separate issue. The workaround is to use a 'popular' email service (outlook, hotmail, gmail, yahoo). However, this may not be feasible for vendors such as yourself.

I use outlook but I have not received any Email notifications for new PM or Thread Update from this Forum only in months. Setting is to instant notification by Email. Notifications do work in user cp but monthly PM reminder my bill is due from Tran do send an Email notification.

I manually set mine for instant for each thread that I subscribe to and it just recently stopped within the past few days.

Your account shows that you are using 'tampabay.rr.com' as an e-mail provider, not outlook.

Alright folks, there are 3 different sets of e-mail issues that people in this thread are having, I would like to try and keep this thread focused on only the one that the OP mentioned.
  1. You do not have the proper settings to actually receive e-mails, this is user error and I can help you correct it. This is what the OP was experiencing.
  2. Over the last week or so, daily and instant e-mail notifications have gotten messed up. If that has happened to you, please discuss your experience in this other thread: Camaro5 Junk Mail
  3. In late spring, a situation arose where people using various uncommon e-mail providers stopped receiving their e-mails. The workaround that we've figured out is to use a hotmail/outlook, yahoo, or gmail account. Discussion thread is here: No emails being pushed
Some of you might be experiencing 2 different problems at once, or maybe even all three if you are super unlucky. But all the same, I would like to keep this discussion focused on the first type.

You are not using an outlook.com e-mail account. Your e-mail address is listed as "TrekGTO@tampabay.rr.com". If you were using outlook as a provider, your e-mail address would be "TrekGTO@outlook.com".

You can be using MS Outlook as an e-mail manager for your tampabay.rr.com account, but that is not the same thing as having an outlook.com e-mail account.

I haven't been receiving notifications for a bit now either. I'm using a yahoo account.

Edit: They seem to be working again now.
