I don't have anything to do with the finances of the site, and I am not going to act like I'm speaking on behalf of our owner/administrator Tran on this, but I've got a pretty good feeling that he gets by well enough with ad revenue and vendor fees.

And its my own personal opinion that 'premium memberships' are generally a headache. Usually, when you ask people to pay extra you need to give them something extra in return. So that means either a) artificially restricting what everyone else gets or b) inventing something above and beyond the 'regular' membership experience for them to pay for. Neither one approach appeals to me. Plus, its not uncommon for sites with that kind of membership structure to have some of the premium people expect special treatment (ie, they think they can get away with whatever they want since they're paying for the site). On the whole, it is not something that I do not want to have to deal with as a moderator.

I guess if you really wanted to you could pay Tran to be a vendor. But vendor fees are substantially higher than what most premium memberships cost.

As for growth, I don't think you're aware of the fact that the forum is closing in on its 10th birthday. Camaro6 is Camaro5 is Corvette7. 1 forum shared among 3 domains. So while Camaro6 is going to greatly expand its presence in the coming months and years, its still a baby next to Camaro5.

Long time no see ... I seem to remember having a coffee with you on our way out to Oshawa once.

Hope you don't mind, but I have moved your thread to Site Related and merged it with the already existing 'New servers deserve a thank you' thread.
