New car advice?
Right now I have a 1991 Jaguar XJ6, seen here.
(Mine's white)It does the job for now, and it has a nice 4.0 liter I-6 and Pirelli racing tires. It can take itself to 60 in about 7 seconds and 100 in about 13-14. Drawbacks: it takes premium gas and wieghs 5000 pounds, around any corner it screeches and it sways dramatically because of the wieght. The point of it is to kind of be a training car, so I could learn on it. Well, I've done a good amount of learning, and done pretty much anything you can do in it, including hitting 153 on the way to vegas once. (My dad was in the car and it was 1 am, still irresponsible of him, but don't judge ) My brother who is a year older than me used the same car for a few months, then he got a 2007 V6 mustang with 12k miles on it for about 21k.I am 17, and I'm looking for a new car. My dad is kinda rich so i have between 20-25k to use. Should I wait it out and buy a V6 Camaro, say next february, buy a (god forbid) V6 challenger, or try to take my stepmom's 07 Mustang GT. I can also go used by a couple of years, I was thinking of getting a 04 GTO or something of that nature, with low milage of course. And please, do not come in here with "spoiled kid's these days" talk. I've seen it before and I work hard at school and my political involvement. I have a lot more going on than the normal 17 year old. I like the punch of a muscle car, and I'm really into engines in general. On top of that, I'm going to love customizing my car, even if it is a V6 into the only one of it's kind on the road. Sorry about the two topics so close to each other in time, I have been lurking for a very long time and have a lot to say on the subject of the Camaro. well if you're gonna wait for the camaro, then why not just wait for the mustang redesign (that is, if you favor the mustang). And pick which design you prefer.
imo though, it sounds like the camaro is gonna knock the socks off both the mustang & the challenger. I'd consider the challenger as a possible threat - as long as it wasn't orange with black stripes... Because as we all know - the paint job of a car determines the fate of the race. nah but really, the camaro is a much cooler car. and it'll outlast the challenger (in number of years existing), and it'll outlast the mustang (in number of races). especially if you're considering the current model v6 mustang. that's gonna be crap VS. the camaro V6, unless you get a V8 (mustang). (which I guess the GT is?..) but even then..it sucks to have to get a V8 to beat a V6...and Still have a substandard car. thats a ford for ya... darned spoiled kid's these days...Arg. j/k =)

If I were to get a mustang it would be the GT.
But my dad is iffy on giving me that much power (He doesn't know about that LLT) I'm not looking at mustangs at all, unless it's that one. I want to beat out my brother's car, and me getting the same car is just not the way we do these things. I know the camaro is a superior car, the only problem is, I don't want to drive the car with no A/C or no radio that I'm driving right now for 6 more months waiting for the Camaro. I like the look of the challenger, but I want something that is not only fast but agile, with a lower wieght. Mustang isn't going to happen unless I inherit the GT, which has leather and a premium sound system, but that looks like it is not going to happen, my dad is very reluctant to give me a V8 with that much power. |

a few Sporty cards that are quick and around that price range are listed from good handling to good power:
Mini Cooper S RSX S2000 R-X7 Supra Challenger Camaro 6 cyl Failed attempts to make the list: Mustang 6 cyl (8 cyl will be around 30 unless it's your stepmom's) My 4 cylinder Mitsubishi eclipse had more speed/handling than 6 cylinder mustangs stock for stock. Get a Cooper and outhandle it. If you want my opinion read on... Get a summer job for an extra few thousand dollars and put it towards your car to get the little bit extra. Might enable you to buy a v8 (Mustang/Camaro) if you can convince your parents. You're involved in politics somewhat, so I'm sure you have superior BS techniques. I'm not in politics but my skills are extremely honed. If you need help, lemme know. When you customize your car, the better you start out with, the more you'll enjoy the final results. |

I'd be iffy on giving my kid a car that had that much power too - Seeing as how it's a Ford. (Look up the Ford Explorer/Firestone controversy)
May as well look up the Pinto & Bronco controversy while you're at it. Ford just doesn't fly. it's a shit company that can't get their stuff straight. me & my mom just bought a "New" transmission from them, after sending it in 3 times, saying theres still a problem, they finally discovered there was a faulty item within the transmission. Sure - it may happen time to time..but we've spent approximately 4 or 5 weeks trying to get our car fixed. Does that seem right to you?... They kept blaming it on ME, because they say I'm too hard on the vehicle. But no - it was their fault. all 4-5 weeks of it - because they couldn't get a freakin transmission in the taurus that worked. Sure it was my fault initially for it breaking but why can the ford DEALERSHIP not receive a "perfectly good/new transmission" and install it Properly..in under 4 weeks. And may I repeat myself by saying - they put the blame on me for the car not working (AFTER they installed the NEW transmission) Screw ford. they'll never get any of my business throughout my lifetime. Luckily the taurus is my mom's - and I'm not having to pay a penny for the screw ups. Sure I feel bad for wrecking the tranny but oh well shit happens. I'll know better next time. you live & learn. My mom never had a single problem with her old Chevy Celebrity until her friend wrecked it. It was a dependable, clean, sturdy car. And everyone else I've ever known, hasn't ever had anything bad to say about Chevrolet. Compare and contrast the issues between Ford & Chevrolet. You'll just end up getting disappointed in ford. The V6 camaro (supposedly) will be just as powerful as that GT if not even better (better quality material/interior/etc). and it doesn't look like your average Chevy. Whereas the Mustang - I sware the interior looks just as cheap as my taurus. the GT is about 300 HP...and is a few years old (the one ur referring to), by the time the 300 HP Camaro comes out, the mustang will be yesterdays news. NOT TO MENTION - the V6 camaro will have a lot better gas mileage than the V8 GT Mustang. Yet still be just as powerful - if not moreso.

I think I will be looking for a job soon, I have a class at the local college (UC riverside) and SAT prep classes, so I'm going to wait until fall. Being the type of person I am, I'm looking to buy American if I can, although I couldn't pass on a MINI or BMW. I don't like the sound of Rice type cars, and prefer straight Muscle for some reason. Ok, so I just customized a MINI, and I think it has just tied for first with a camaro. I can just imagine how much fun I'd have making quick right turns and diving into parking spaces without the turning radius I need now (Did I tell you it was hydraulic Power steering? Thing sucks to park in) What year is that eclipse of yours. The eclipse would be on the list, but I think there is just better value out in that price range, I'd rather fully equip a GS Lancer for the same price as the GT. |

Out of your choices, I would choose the 6 camaro. It will be brand new, so you get a warranty. Also, it has as much power as your moms GT but with better gas mileage.
Now, your brother paid how much for his mustang??? |

lancer? ew. you lost me.
Ugly car. doesn't matter what trim. I've never cared for it. I used to really like the Eclipse/Talon tho. (late 1990's)

I had a 97 Eclipse (non turbo automatic). Pic below.
As for the lancers. The NEWEST bodystyle isn't bad. The new eclipse body style is terrible imo. Lancer (non-evo) 5 speed is pretty good from what my friend says. |

![]() I don't mind the eclipse..but it's nothing special. nor does it seem performance like in any way shape or form. just seems like another one of those "Hip" rolly-polly cars out atm.

at first it was just basic with a spoiler and that's about it but then they put premium wheels and nice continental tires on it and raise the sticker by 1,400 but my step mom went in there and said she wanted the rims and tires for previous sticker on top of a free maintenance package |
